yeah I just picked this up tonight.
It is in really good condition but is missing the keys to open the top.
This is one of my "holy grail" machines because I had one when I was a kid.

I am planning on enjoying for a while then maybe converting it.

Does anyone know how much work it is to convert? how much the parts would run?

Thanks,
Daniel

Convert it to what?

What Nintendo game was in this originally? Looks great for a conversion.

That is not a conversion. That is the original Taito Space invaders Cocktail(mostly sold over seas). As I have one of those exact machines in my possession. Grant it though, not as is good shape. Seeing the pic Almost makes me want to restore mine!!

I'm sure you could convert it to something. But that is the original cocktail meant for that game. So you should probably keep it that way....just sayin..:D

not a conversion. That's an original tatio SI. Yes the cab looks damn close to a nintendo. Even uses the same coin mechs and similar if not the same joystick. There are differences though.

Echo...Echo....:D

I was thinking of maybe converting it either to what it was originally (which I guess it already is, since everyone seems to say it is all original)
But I might also convert it to a 40-1 or something similar if there is an easy way to just pull the board and plug in a new board.

Would really love to get galaga and similar playing on it but without switching out sticks or monitors so it can be switched back to the original SI.

Is this possible to convert easily to a multiple game system? Do people sell multiboards for this?
Also if not multiple games can I just switch out a board to have it play galaga or similar?

Thanks,
Dart

Converting it to something else would mean a lot of work - its a Black and white monitor so you'd have to swap monitors, and for the most part just about everything else.

If I were you I'd leave that as-is and find another project cocktail to turn into a multi - there's tons out there that are already empty/hacked.

To answer your question, I don't believe the Space Invaders Multi Kit works on the Taito boards but it doesn't hurt to ask...

Unfortunately the Multi-kits do not work. I've already asked. It only applies to the Midway boards.

And like the above poster said, way to much work to convert. New monitor, harness, board, power supply....well just about everything would have to be replaced. As Orion said, find another project cocktail for what you want to do. Leave this classic in it's outstanding shape!!!

I will take everyone's advice and just build a multigame in another cabinet.

All I need to do is figure out how to build, wire and assemble a multi-jamma system.
But other than those small things, I got it all figured out hahaha

It should be fun trying to figure it all out
