Taito Space Invaders (cabaret) on Minneapolis CL

I emailed about it just to try to get some more pics. The cab looks alright, needs a bit of work as there are scratches all over and on the overlay and flaking on the bezel.

Ill take number 2 allen if the price is right and you'll do layaway :) pm me as well....

If my Monkey Ball purchase from rmackie doesn't work out (which I hope it does) I may be picking up one of these SI's also. I'm sure we could work out some sort of discount on your Qix if I delivered your SI for you, yes? :)

But it all depends on what happens with the Monkey Ball cab.... ... ... (I must find some inner patience while I wait)

Just wondering if any of you guys up there called on this game, or checked it out?

Man I love those Taito cabarets. Sounds like the guy would negotiate. Wish I had more money. Someone go grab it!

Well, I'm the lucky winner of this little one. Saw it when it was first posted for $450 on eBay then watched as the price fell on CL through $375, $300 and then eBay at $275 then the final price of $200 on CL.

Overall it was a pretty good deal at that price... not much more though.

Biggest issue:
(apologies to you smokers...but...) Brought it into the house to warm up and it STANK! Yep, old bar-smell soaked up smoke in all the vinyl and all the particle board :( An hour later and tons of Krud Kutter (sheeting off in brown foam after spraying on in white), the woodgrain sides and black dimpled vinyl cross smell better. However there is still enough wood, wire shielding and components inside that when heating up makes for a rather large Glade Plug In with a not-so-nice freshness :( It's gonna take a complete disassembly, scrub, sanding and washing of all parts to even begin to make it palletable to remain in the house.

Other issues:
* Yep, typical Taito glass bezel flaking. Primarily from rubbing against the monitor shroud (since it is raised up due to the vacuum molded tinted color shell on the monitor) Also around the control panel, top and along the felt strips. Not peeling just flaking where rubbed. Rest is completely spidered when held up to light.

* Control panel had all 3 buttons replaced with Happ microswitch, and at the same time someone replaced all the wires in the harness from the panel to the Molex 9 pin connector with new wires (most same color as well :( ) No idea why.

* Panel has scratching in middle lower center and below and left of joystick.

* Joystick has oval'ed out the pivot socket so it is a bit floppy up and down

* Original open wire FL light replaced with a $7 Wal-Mart plastic fixture. They cut out all of the wiring and molex connector, soldered in the tail end of a 3 pin orange extension cord, then plugged in the 2 prong white plug from the lamp half way down to the power board. Real nice hack.

* Sides in pretty decent condition, only a few cuts. Bottom edges are slightly rough but not in need of any Bondo or anything.

* Monitor has very light burn in, not visible when on even without the tinted cover. Cannot get the horizontal width (height in it's orientation) to fill the screen and without a vertical position knob can't get it centered (horizontally in it's orientation) to make a bit wider.

* There is an errant "click" sound after the sound plays when your base is destroyed. Not sure what this is from. Everything else sounds and plays correct. (Posted to tech help here)

* After looking at Nerdygirl's pics, it appears I am missing the Z shaped bracket that prevents the bezel from hitting the control panel. :( That will be hard to replace I'm sure.

Misc:
Marquee is excellent, only 1 small thin scratch, coin bucket included but has round lock without key :( No water damage on base, someone added 4 2.5" rollers to move it more easily. Everything else seems to be there from what I can tell and unhacked.

Help needed:
For anyone with SI mini's if you could take closeup pictures of the wiring to the old FL fixture (from power board, through probably a detachable connector, up to the board itself) so I can return that to 'stock' appearance with some spare parts, that would be great.

Same for a picture of the wiring / buttons / connector for the control panel so I can fix that back up to leaf switches. It currently has a 9 pin Molex .093 connector and don't know if that was correct--I thought Taito used older style AMP's usually ?

Spare parts possibly needed:
I think I have enough parts for the lamp and panel repair (depending what pictures would show). Eventually a good deal on a bezel (yeah, not gonna happen), a better CPO and also a non-damaged 2 way joystick, or at least the base. Also the Z shaped bezel retainer metal piece that keeps the glass away from the control panel.

I'll take pictures of whatever you need.
I moved a bunch of stuff this weekend and I can actually get to mine now.
Remind me via PM in a couple of days.
I won't have them long. As soon as I dig them out, and test what needs to be tested, they will be sold.

Thanks! I'll get some pics snapped of the internal hacks and circle the areas I'm interested in seeing originals for. I'll glance at your current photos and see what I might be able to pick up, but this is all I think I'll need:

1) Couple pics of wire from power board leading up to FL board, including separated connector assuming there is one in the middle somewhere
2) Pic of mounting/style of fixture (from front or under control panel should be sufficient)
3) Pic of underside of control panel showing style of leaf buttons and holders, wire colors and picture of harness connector ends unattached.

Thanks again for the offer, will ping and forward pics to you in a couple days.
