Taito Restoration Questions

Looking forward to seeing the transformation. I love these Taito cabs. Is there much to fix on it or is it just a sand primer and paint..... - Barry

There are a couple scuffs... and in the bottom right pic you can see the worst... a corner is beat up a bit.

For those (myself included) who have never owned a Taito cab of this vintage. I do believe that all the bolts actually hold the cabinet together. There is not glue nor staples attaching the front to the sides. Remove the bolts and you will have a bunch of wood.

Am I right?
Was this done for shipping purposes?

And good luck on the resto!

Have not looked at all of them on my Qix, but they were just for internal structures like the monitor mount, etc. I believe the shell is fine without them.

Here's a question for the Taito cabinet experts-

On the couple I've owned, ZK and Alpine Ski, the cabinets were in pretty good shape, but the back doors tended to sag a bit, hanging at the bottom and pulling the cabinet out of square just a tiny bit. Do you generally find that the original particle board door is good, or do you often find it needing replacement?

My Zoo Keeper door was sagging, but it turned out to be the upper hinge was bent. Easy fix. - Barry

Ok... I can confirm that the cabinet will stand without the hardware... but not very well.. :)
