Taito PCB repair

repair

What have you tried to fix the PCB?

Have you checked voltages... usually this is why coin-up doesn't work.
Re-seated all socketed chips and cleaned them?
What are the capacitors on the PCB like... are they old and flakey, etc.

Attach a picture of the game screen.

yes i had to repair power supply voltages are correct,i have re seated the chips, it looks to me a defective chip, not sure which one, the caps on the board look to be in very good cond

He already contacted me. I don't have a way to hook up the steering mechanism...

well i got my game to play and work, i had to hit the top PCB with my palm of hand, so i am thinking there is a chip that needs to be resoldred so any idea where i should start looking

post a good clear pic of the board and close up of sockets.

Stu, pull out your iron and hit all the chips that look to have weak solder.. Even the ones that don't.. If they are socked, pop em out and reseat

If you dont wanna use an iron, drop it off at my place. I'll take a stab at soldering the top pcb

Extremely unlikely to be worth the effort, it is the equivalent of going round and engine that wont start tightening every nut and bolt you can find.

Most likely is you have a bad system RAM chip.

i believe it is a game socket issue,at first it would not coin up and would have green or orange lines across game image and also would show garbage on screen and clear up now that all connections are secure ,i made sure all wire connections were tight and solid.

The old NES trick eh?

Greg screams (7 years old): "DAD! The Nintendo is flashing the grey screen again!"

Greg's Dad replies: "Just hit it."

Greg violently strikes the NES.

Greg screams: "Thanks Dad!"
