I'm about tired of my Taito marquee... Even when I have all the bulbs in, it just doesn't match in my head to what a marquee should looks like when lit (I know, I know... it looks how it's SUPPOSED to look with the bulbs)...

I've been thinking about how to "fix" it without "breaking"... I really want to leave the wall that the original bulbs mount to in there, so that rules out having a standard bulb in there... I was thinking about tapping 12V from the power supply and running it to some cold cathode lights (the ones a lot of people use in computers and cars).

I was just wondering if anyone has done anything like that and how it looked? I would love to do 2 12" lights in there, but as my bulbs aren't mounted in a straight line... it really only gives me room for a 6" at the top and a 12" at the bottom of the bulbs...

Is this just one of those things I'm going to have to try out or can someone talk me out of it and give me a better option?

Personally I think you should do it. If you are keeping the game for your collection - make it how you want it to be. I agree. the 147 bulb or the pac style incandescent bulbs just dont do it for me either. Id rather all my marquees light up and "match" for the most part.
I think your on the right path though. a couple cold cathodes should fit with very minimal modification - so if you ever do get rid of it to someone who just has to have it original, then it wont take much to put it back.
Do it and enjoy your game!! After all, thats what its all about. :)
