Hey guys, remember a while back when I was discussing how to repaint my Lock n Chase? And it has this rediculous taito side logo? Well, after literally two days of photoshop I was able to recreate it, it's 90% done, I only have half of one letter left to do, it's extremely tedious but I feel in the end it will pay off. Each letter is done individually and full scale. I'm printing each letter full size on a vinyl sticker. My plan is to repaint the cab, affix each letter, and then clear coat the whole thing. What do you guys think? Was all this photoshop worth the effort? I think it looks pretty damn good.

Photoshop you say. Why don't you just have stencils cut and repaint the cab? You don't mean to adhere those letters (as stickers) to the cab and then clearcoat over them?

I'm not worried about scanning the sides, I have full scale images of these letters, I just don't think a stencil is feasable because of the cocentric circles and letters, there'd be like 5 stencils for each letter and they'd have to be placed perfectly within eachother :-\

stencils are VERY feasible. Trust me.

first question is by 'full scale' what do you mean. Scans or a photograph? To do a decent stencil will take scans.

Second, do you know anything at all about vectoring artwork? That style cab is one on my need list so if you do have a decent scanned side i'm interested for stencil making purposes.

Did you look at the photos in my oringinal post? I took photos of the letters and recreated them full scale in photoshop, so I have .psd files with full size letters.

Yes I did, you didn't say how you got your image.. you just said you photoshopped them. I guess I was supposed to assume that :)

Haha, yeah sorry, I thought it was obvious, guess not. But yeah I created those myself, each letter is an individual file, I'm finishing up the "A" right now.

that cab has been lying disassembled in my workroom for more than a year now along with an a3 scanner, but somehow i haven't come around to scan that b****. perhaps i should really do that now, because it's not just the letters we're after, it's the entire sideart.

If you could do that I'd really appreciate it...if not It looks like I'd have to recreate the whole thing in photoshop for someone to make a stencil from...I'd really like to get going on my cab but I'm afraid to start sanding off the paint if I have no way of redoing it.

you really don't need to do anything in photoshop to make stencils but stitch the scans together to make one image. retouching would be a waste of time because the bulk of the work would be in illustrator. I'm guessing the art could be vectorized much faster than photoshop retouching actually.

I wish I knew that before I spent two days in photoshop, i'm great at that but don't know a thing about illustrator, I have it just never used it. So somehow between the three of us do you think we can get a stencil set going?

Superully....have you made any progress yet? I'm so anxious to get a good stencil set going as I want to start the restoration of the cab asap haha. As I said before, if there's anything I can do from my end let me know! :-D
