I have an old elevator action cabinet I'm starting to restore. The kick panel is in pretty rough shape and I'm thinking about just making a replacement panel. What is the best way to remove that front panel without totally destroying the sides. I took out the bolts on the L brackets on the top and bottom. I can pull the sides apart and the panel looks to just be rabbeted. I'm not sure how that is connected at the bottom. Does anybody have some insight on that? If it's horrible to remove I'll just leave it and pour a ton of wood hardener and bondo it.

Consider disassembling the whole cabinet to get that panel out - could get some good restoration type work done in the process. Better to replace that panel with new MDF or whatever than have a bunch of filler in it.
