taito jungle king jamma adapter - does anyone have one?

picked up a dedicated taito jungle king cabinet recently which had been jamma-switcher-converted to shinobi. i'd like to leave the wiring intact as it is right now, but of course the cabinet needs to be converted back to its former original jungle king glory.

therefore, i'm looking for a jamma jungle king adapter to plug the pcb into the existing jamma wiring harness (see attached pictures - shinobi pcb still inside the cab).

quarterarcade sells one (http://www.quarterarcade.com/Game.aspx/530) but 60 BUCKS? plus: where does that extra connector go to which you can see on the picture?

does anyone have a jungle king jamma adapter he might consider selling? if that's the case, please let me know ... :)

damn, not as easy as i had hoped for. guess there is no system 16 to taito pcb adapter, right?

Doubtful. I could build an adaptor but the cost would be even higher than what you looked at before. These adaptors aren't really complicated but they are time consuming.

But there is a way to change the wiring to your Sega 16 edge connector into Jamma. They are the same sized edge connector, you just have to desolder and solder about 15 wires. Or remove and change your pins around, depending on which type of edge connector you have. I had the solder eyelet type, and the conversion from Sega 16 to Jamma took about an hour or so of matching pinout diagrams and moving wires. Then you can drop $60 on the QA version of your Jamma to Taito adapter.

What Phet says is true, you just won't be able to play Shinobi anymore. Of course you could sell the Shinobi board and artwork to offset the cost of the adaptor.

Unless you get a Jamma to Sega 16 adapter as well. Start with jamma, then everything else will fall into place.

sounds like a good plan. i've also thought about using a taito wiring harness from a dedicated stratovox machine which i have standing around, but i guess in the end this is going to be more complicated than changing some wires on the connector.

man, i'm glad i asked and you guys helped me out!

one question remains though: what's that extra connector with the wiring attached on the QA adapter?

PLUS: anyone has a cheaper version? ;)

I can't follow the link you posted because it is blocked on this network but I assume it is an inline Molex connector. That is the power supply to the Taito board. These old Taito boards used multiple connectors and the Jamma adaptors have to compensate for this.

If memory serves that connector carries the 5v, 12v, ground, maybe -5v

so basically this would have to go to the switcher, right? let's see if shilmover can dig out an adapter and if his version also has this extra plug then ...

No. The JK board has two conectors that the adaptor plugs into. The edge connector carries all of the signals such as the joystick and coin door while the white connector carries the power to the Taito board.

No, it goes to the board. Taito SJ boards don't have the power on the edge connector, it's on a separate header.

The adapters that QA resells came from me... I sell them for $40.
