Taito Gladiator Cabinet style

Old Sega cabinets work well if you turn the monitor. The ergonomics are perfect.

Gladiator was a conversion kit only. It is a great game game and is often overlooked and

doesnt seem to get the credit it deserves.

I am trying to develope a pattern for the skeleton, its near impossible, but can be done.

Getting through the whole game on one man is easy , but the skeleton is a jerk.

It would be fun to take down the golden era World record for GLADIATOR.

If anyone knows a pattern for the skeleton, please share.

Also you can collect the four swords for a power up, then get the sword from the amazon girl. Your sword gets a different tint color than the regular powered up sword.

when you have all five swords ,Take the mace from the giant after he is killed and it will have a white tint.

I have not seen any extra power with these ultra powered up weapons, other than a full

armour replacement after twenty hits on an opponents shield, which is a standard feature

even if you just get the four flying swords.

A rare event sometimes occurs when a flying object is struck, it will fall to the ground and

spin for a big bonus.

the force field is nice but you get zero points for all repelled objects/ enemies.

Sorry to get long winded above ^^^^,

back to topic .....you will need:

the gladiator pcb

the original wiring harness and a switching power supply

robotron style wico joystick and 6 leaf style buttons for original feel or microswitches for

modern set up. 2 start buttons , marquee, and bezel.

be sure to follow the template in the original kit instructions to get the correct placement

and orientation of the sword buttons and joystick.

i tried a jamma to taito adapter but could not get the controls to work correctly, but the

board i used was not 100 percent perfect either. That was my first attempt to build a gladiator machine few years ago.

My current machine is a original kit in a sega cabinet.

Good luck!

Gladiator was the only game I ever was any good at in the 80's. My friend Dave and I would spend hours at Golf 'n Stuff on a single dollar bill.

I have a nice PCB and will set about collecting the rest of the goodies as they pop up. I'd love just to find an original converted cab but I'll have to restore it anyway so I'm leaning towards just building one. Thx for the help.
