I'm working on a Frontline cabinet and the main cabinet sits on a "box" base with no feet. Is this the way it's supposed to be?

Unfortunately, I got a little water in the basement last week and the only thing that is affected is that MDF base box on the Frontline. Now the box is 2" wood instead of 3/4".

Has anyone put leg levelers on these old Taito cabinets?

The original Taito cab bases WERE made out of plywood:

The delamination and layer flaking are the suck. I rebuilt mine using mitered 1x4's:

Then I put the small nail on teflon chair leg sliders on the bottom to save the wood from future sliding:

The base on my frontline was made from MDF, not plywood.

Either way, it's a good excuse to rebuild it.

I'm going to add feet to mine, too.

Thanks,
Mikey

Got pics? I have had 3 Taito cabs in the shop, all with plywood bases. Not that I don't believe you, but it seems strange to me. MDF is a horrible choice for cabs in general, but for the base? Yowsa. Even good old Qbert, which is an MDF cab, has huge wooden runners underneath the cab for its base.

Here's are pics of the base pieces. The swelling is pretty bad.

I agree; MDF is a really bad choice for a cabinet base

@ Phetishboy: You know you didn't believe me!
