There has been a lot of abuse in the tagging (categorizing) system for the threads.

Tags are not anonymous to the admins. I'd warn people to watch what they say but that doesn't seem to always work so maybe one or two need to be lined up against the wall (if not, they are definitely closer to that point).

Options at this time are pretty simple (a) turn off tagging, or (b) hold people highly accountable from this point forward for their tags.

From an administrative perspective, the first option is a lot simpler, and is what I'm leaning towards...

I like them, and think they're neat, but hear where you're coming from.

If they were removed, it wouldn't kill me, but I do think they're fun...

Is there an option for everyone to see who posted what? That would solve it.

I like tags. My suggestion would be to put up a sticky warning note and put people on notice to clean up their act. It'll take a while to sink in and for people to notice it but if they can't control what they type then turn 'em off.

More important when can we change this color scheme..its killing my eyes. why havent you responded to the requests to turn that option on?? some of us post alot less here because physical cant...this white and blue is killing me....

Since you dont have the time for tweaking and answering some of the requests for this site then i guess taking the easiest way out would be the best option for you..
still waiting on some of the upgrades you said would be turned on in a few days....that was a few months ago....

If their is no abusive language, I honestly do not see what the big deal is. I know some threads people were name calling me. I thought the tags were funny. Let people have fun. Tags actually created a reason to read the forums.

The tags remind me of my son's 3rd grade buddies when they come over and don't know I'm around. Minus the swearing of course(for the most part). ;)

I wouldn't miss them at all tbh.

yay more socialism. oh damn, meant that as a tag. :) Maybe get rid of the tags if the admins cant take it and give more lines to the sig so folks with a decent amount of games in their gameroom and list what they have so when you see someone with a game you have you can relate or swap info. Makes it alot easier to tell who has what games for those that are willing to share that info. Just a thought, im just another member with an opinion here.

I like tags and enjoy them. Most are silly, some poke fun without being mean, and unless they are totally rude and personal - can't imagine why they would need to be removed. I have had many of my tags removed and it was strange why. Even the "tags are fun" got removed, and obviously that should not be considered offensive by anyone:rolleyes:

I also agree the color scheme is tough on my old eyes... but I don't want to gripe too much since it is a free site for us - and also the lymphoma site, and I am appreciative of both :)

Thank you!

Don't the tags mess up the search with unrelated garbage?

I have to admit that I have not used tags to this point. I am starting to think about it in order to find some of the FAQ threads. It is a pain to try to remember context for more than 3 letters to direct people on how to deal with RAM errors or paint colors or common links.

I don't know enough about this message board software from an admin perspective, but shouldn't the ability to post tags be just like any other privilege? Like creating threads, editing posts, etc. Those are account level privileges. If you can turn tags on or off at the account level then just shut down the offenders. Just my $0.02 worth.

I personally just see tags as 'graffiti'... :D

tags

I feel Tags should be turned off in the For Sale section no matter what.

I also think an option to make a post that can not be replied to is needed in the For Sale section (only).

To many FS threads turn into pissing contests over price or other opinions that have nothing to do with the sale. If you do not like a FS post and it has replys turned off you can start a thread in the Discussion forum about it.

I am fine with Tags otherwise. I agree sometimes they are funny. However I understand that it is not the moderators job to babysit the tags so turning them off all together may be the best option.

I think the tags are beneficial to get around the search feature that doesn't allow 3 letter words for search criteria. That is if people used them. The search feature is crap if it doesn't let you search 3 letter words -- RAM, ROM, 720, G05, G07, cap locations (C21 etc.), CPO, PCB, Z80, common abbreviations that we all use in the hobby, and the list goes on. The search feature is pretty much useless trying to narrow down your results to what you are exactly looking for.

If we use tags for this purpose, it would be beneficial for all. Or change the search rules. Just my thoughts.

I do think they are funny most of the time, but I've used them productively as well. Like the tag "vendors" brings up two threads that are full of useful arcade repair, parts, art, and other websites used often in this hobby.

I don't pay attention/use the tags. I really didn't notice them until they were pointed out. I wouldn't miss them.

Can we please do something about the Web magic logo...now that im using the new color scheme that one of your mods so graciously posted for us.. that dam logo really really stands out....
