Left flipper barely moves. Happened during a game someone was playing.

I figured it was the strong part of the coil that failed and replaced the coil. No change. Found the fuse holder had come unsoldered from the board. Re soldered it and still the flipper is weak. I am looking through the manual to see if it might be a transistor.... but would love any suggestions.

Possibly a bad end of stroke switch?

Well that was easy. I used an emory board to clean the EOS contacts and she is totally working now. I am kinda floored that it was that simple. Sometimes I just figure it is something more complex.... and it turns out to be so simple.

Thanks.

I usually use isopropyl alcohol and a qtip to clean switches. Seems like an empty board could really damage the switch an shorten its life dramatically.

I agree with you. the flipper worked for a night of play and then got weak. The EOS switch is pretty much useless now that the coating on the contacts is worn away. I had tried windex to clean it in the beginning, but it hardly helped. Parts might show up Saturday, but a bud gave me a new EOS switch I will install tonight.

Talked to a tech for a local operator and he said an easy test would be to use alligator clips to connect the EOS and bypass the switch. Simple and a good idea. I would of never thought of doing that.

OK, keep in mind that T2 is WPC but pre-fliptronics, so the full flipper voltage is passing through the EOS switch. It should be a high-voltage tungsten contact switch. Cleaning and re-facing the tungsten contacts (which are very hard material) requires using something like a flexstone. There is no coating to wear away. They are not like the low-voltage gold-flashed contacts on the later fliptronics switches. Bad contacts can impede voltage flow which can make the flipper weak.

Can you take some good detailed pics of the flipper assemblies on your T2?

That would help us.

Update without pics.... srry

A nice and new EOS switch has that flipper strong as hell. I also replaced the yellow cap. The EOS was tore up and worn way down to the next metal or was severely pitted.

Sorta funny story. My neighbor comes over on Friday nights and we party it up. He was pretty late so I was intoxy. It took both of us about 30 minutes to do it when it should of been a 10 minute job. She is playing darn fine now though.

Thanks, as usual, for the assist.
