Well I placed an order at t-molding.com, I purchased the smooth 3/4" black. So can someone tell me how to use a router? I have never used one before. What bits do I need? I know when we get the sides done we clamp the sides together and use a finishing bit then switch to the slot cutter. T-molding.com say's 1/16" but the diagram says 3/32" what gives? What is a shank and what size do we need? My brother n law has all the tools at work we can use, but I need to know what exactly is needed for this router. Thanks.

You'll need a 3/32 slot cutter. The size of the shank depends on what your router will accept. You set the depth on your router with the slot cutter mounted and then all you do is turn it on and cut a slot into the edge of the wood. If your brother in law has used a router then he'll know what he needs to do to center and cut the slot.

FWIW, I use a 1/16" and it works fine as well... I like things a bit tighter. ;) Plus, any play in the bit will not make the slot 'sloppy'...

Thanks guys, would a dremel get me the same results? I have no access to a router, I'am trying to borrow one, but I'am unsure of what horsepower I should use. Home Depot had a real small 1hp router that would fit in your palm of your hand for $60 would this get a 1/2" slot for the t-molding install? I'am unsure on bits to use, and no non of us have used a router before. Thanks
