Terminator-2....what is the weak link on these? a found a few posts in the search here and some neg on the game, I may go look at one tomorrow...what do you guys call not worth much $500? crazy money for one?

looks like a fun game from the youtube vids I looked at....boring after a few plays??

any feedback appreciated. Thnx B.

I played the hell out of that game when it came out. It is very fun and has replay value when playing with friends. On your own, it could be a little repetitive after a while, but that could be said about a lot of games.

Smoke, I noticed you're in Seattle so it might be worth mentioning...

I've got two T2 cabinets, hadn't thought of selling the nice one but man don't get desperate and gouge your eyes out!

I think $500 is crazy money for a T2 nowadays! A few years ago, yes...

If you want a cheapo crapo projecto I have it and if you want a cleaner, playable machine that needs some finishing touches its here as well.

And to answer your questions about weak links & replayability...

I actually still like the game alot! I've gone through a few hundred machines and I had sold my first T2 years back. After not having it for awhile people asked me about it sometimes and I longed to get another one. Its not a game you play by yourself alot, but when a buddy is over its a good one to drink beers playing nice flat control panel!

The weak link of the system I'd say is the guns and the gun pcb board. The guns have a knocker inside of them that likes to break, crack the gun, the pots like to crap out, guns themselves loosen up causing play in them. The gun pcb likes to blow fuses and has random issues with things not working.

The main boardset seems to be pretty reliable, I've had more working ones than dead ones through my hands and around me. T2 machines themselves are easy to work on and nice the boards than be pulled from the front of the cabinet! The sidearts are often faded with the red being the first to go.

The big thing is that on route these are rode really hard and put away wet. Kids hang off the guns, slam them forward & back, graffiti, etc. When they're in the home environment and well loved they are actually really solid games! You dial them in and they tend to keep going, they're a workhorse machine.

T2 is a cool game. awesome theme, well worth $200, 500 or 1000 depending on the condition of the cab... Almost always get played when I have people over. easily my favorite gun game of all. Has a very cool mirror effect that makes the gamescreen appear deeper, like crossbow and cheyenne. Also has a really neat mirrored damage effect that flashes each players side when taking damage. I never knew this effect existed until I cleaned the mirror and noticed the lightbulbs. They must have been burnt out on all the T2's I played bitd.

T2 is one of those games that has funny pricing. If you look at ebay and the cost of the parts in one of those - 25" monitor - not cheap, Guns - very expensive and impossible to find, complete set of boards - $100+ easy, I don't really get why people value them for so little.

The bad thing about them is that the cab isn't really reusable - the display mounts in the back and reflects off of a mirror. Cool, but not practical for much anything else.

If the $500 game is complete and working, with great art and guns in perfect shape, then that might be OK if you really want the game. If it has screen burn, cracked gun cases, missing rocket buttons, etc, then you will have to spend a lot of money to get it up to snuff - assuming you can find the parts. The repro sideart doesn't match the original, and (like every other piece of art) is way overpriced. If you buy a cab for $200, and have to replace the art, and a few other pieces, then you're right back at around $500 anyway.

Just my T2 cents worth...
