The world seems to have completely lost sight of the reality of sole proprietor boutique business.
Four decades of cheap (and poor quality!) shit from China has skewed everyone's concept of what anything should cost.
If Joe (or anyone for that matter) has the hardware to produce this stuff, the skill to use it well, uses top quality materials and then between receiving and processing an order, sourcing material, design and layout work, actually printing the stuff, packing, shipping, the accounting work afterwards, etc. - for every order he gets, how much should his time, effort and skill be worth?
Not even including website stuff, emails, phone calls, etc...
Should he be working for $10/hr?
I just placed an order for stuff that I think is quite reasonably priced for the effort and material involved and I would be bummed if he isn't making at least $50/hr after all is said and done.
For those who have always worked for somebody else then you may not get what I'm saying but if you work for yourself/ run your own business then you certainly know what I am talking about.
I would like my stuff as soon as I can get it too, but these guys aren't pushing the 1 minute button on a microwave for us either.
Not to disregard any else's opinion here, but that's mine.
