I'm working on a firepower II that has sat for a very long time. I got a tested cpu and power supply from member Chris M and it now boots up and plays. Player 3 and the credit display are missing, but the others don't work. The voltages are present at the master display board and the ribbon cables are installed correctly. Any ideas on things to check? This is my first classic ss williams.

Unless you can find a full set of used ones cheap, go with replacements (I recommend PinScore personally).

If you look closely inside the glass of the display, and can see what appear to be tiny whitish crystals (esp. where the digit segments are located), that's a very good indication that the displays are outgassed.

if you are going to keep it, just get the led ones, less hassle

I plan on keeping it at the moment. I don't have a ton invested in it yet and after seeing what most want for used displays, the LED ones seem the way to go. Rottendog and pinscore both offer sets. I run several rottendog boards with no problems, but several recommend pinscore. Who offers the better set?

For me, having the adjustable brightness was *absolutely* key - otherwise, I think folks are pretty happy with both products, and both seem to offer good warranty/support if you have issues.

I agree with kuglerarcade. switch display locations and find out if it'd the display or information to the display

Player 3 and the credit display are missing from the game, the 3 in the game don't work at all. Switching cables changes nothing. The master display board shows activity with a logic probe, but nothing from displays.
