I am working on my new kanomi system but when I hook it up to my computer monitor, the monitor tells me it's not in range. What am I doing wrong?

All of the 573 games I've tried (Arcade Gallery, Fisherman's Bait) output standard res only. Not sure what games were medium res.

It's the system I got off you Matt. I had it hooked up to an arcade monitor and it works, but I kinda wanted to go with a nice flat screen for this one. If it has VGA out, why wouldn't it be PNP

It has a VGA-pinout connector, but it's not outputing VGA frequencies. Standard res is 15Khz horiz, which most computer monitors can not sync down to. I've hooked mine up to an LCD panel with a sync converter, but it looks better on a standard monitor.

Its a common misnomer that the HD15 pin connector automatically means 640x480 resolution. Actually it works the other way to. You can get 640x480 video off of a JAMMA edge (though it will look better on a 15 pin connector). Its just simply another way to to connect video. Also the 15 pin connector is 3.3V which is not common to send into a computer monitor and may make colors look oversaturated.

No system 573 games were capable of medium or high resolution. Konami's Viper ( Para Para Paradise) and Firebeat (popn music animelo 1+2, popn music 4-8, others) games ran in medium res. Python 1 (Pop'n music 9-14) ran in standard and High resolution. Python 2 ran in standard and high resolution, and the newer games up to Drummania/Guitar Freaks XG run in standard and high resolution.

I'm guessing the VGA port was for ease of outputting on projectors... going to also guess that DDR was the first game to use this boardset, hence the projector and the RCA outs on the back panel of the cab.

we had to replace the monitor in our DDR and went with a tri-res Makvision and instead of dicking around I'm fairly certain we just used the VGA port. additionally, our Dance Maniax 2nd Mix had a monitor go bad too and I borrowed a WG D9200 for that for awhile... also used the VGA port. I shouldn't really say it's a VGA port, still technically DB15, but you all know what I mean lol.

in the end, yeah, it's just too low of a frequency for computer monitors. which is kinda shitty, but oh well.
