Just got done wiring up my Taito cabinet for Elevator Action. It was wired for Rygar, with a Tekhan wiring setup. I used the Rygar wiring PDF and the EA wiring PDF to rewire the cabinet.

i have 2 EA boards to work with. 1 works, the 2nd one has flipped graphics. However, both boards do the same thing in this freshly wired cabinet...they show nothing on the attract screen, but both accept credits, and do play the game, and when the game is playing, all i get are red and blue lines, that scroll upwards, as if it's out of sync. what am i missing here? i wired up the only sync wire to come off the EA board set, to neg horizontal sync on the monitor chassis, then to negative vertical sync, then i tried positive horizontal sync, then to positive vertical sync (turning off power with each wire swap). always the same results.

thanks in advance...

can someone post a chassis picture of an elevator action machine? i want to see where the blue/red/green/ground and the sync wires should end up on the monitor chassis board.

P.S. - and to add, i can't figure this one out. pin 4 is video sync, but there are two wires coming off the harness, yet only 1 to hook up at the monitor? i have 1 black wire, 1 white wire off pinout 4 coming off the harness, but currently, i have only 1 white wire that goes to negative horizontal sync on the chassis?

TAITO 2-Player Connector Pinout
Connector "G"
....COMPONENT | SOLDER

.......Ground | 1 | A | Ground
...Video Red | 2 | B | Video Ground
Video Green | 3 | C | Video Blue
.Video Sync | 4 | D | EMPTY
Speaker (+) | 5 | E | Speaker (-)
...........Key | 6 | F | Key

my taito classic harness has a jumper wire from the horizontal sync to the vertical sync at the monitor chassis.

i think it outputs composite sync, so send one wire to horizontal and one to vertical.

thank you!

can you take a picture of where it plugs to the monitor chassis?

i know i'm close, i have more colors now...just need to know if it's positive or negative sync. thanks!

This many questions about monitor sync, and no mention yet about what type of monitor it has in it?

You do realize that some monitors will not sync if BOTH sync pins are connected, and other monitors will not sync UNLESS both sync pins are connected?

nope, i did not know that. good to know, though.

it's a 19k4903...

If you have the sync connected to the negative vertical sync, remove it. Only have it connected to the negative horizontal sync. Then try adjusting your holds...

fixed. i thought it was a harness issue i was focusing on, but modessitt pointed me to the chassis, and i have it hooked in right now. + and - horizontal sync was needed, and it's hooked up now.

thanks, all.
