This isn't exactly a monitor issue, because it switches from monitor to monitor when I switch the inputs, but maybe someone can track the issue down for me.

On my PC10 the bottom monitor has bad tearing, but if I switch the cables around the tearing switches to the top monitor (which is now showing what would generally be on the bottom, if you catch my drift).

I know next to nothing about this stuff. I checked continuity between the molex connectors that hook to the monitor and the harness, and that seemed to check o.k. Any suggestions on where to look next?

I bought a dual monitor abot 2 yers ago. It was really windy and on the way home the machine fell over in the back of my pick-up. When I got home, I plugged the game in and had the issue that you show in your post on my top monitor. I opened the back of the machine and looked at the monitors. The problem fr me was that one of the connectors on the top monitor had come loose. I would check to make sure is plugged in good and tight on your chasis.

Hope this helps.

I'll check those, but the issue changes monitors when I switch the connectors.

Upon further investigation, I have discovered that the monitor will sync if I plug the monitors wiring harness in after the machine has been powered up.
So to sum up the issue:
The main game monitor (doesn't matter if I have it plugged into the top or the bottom physical monitor in the cab) will not sync unless the monitor harness is plugged in *after* the game has been powered on.

Curiouser and curiouser...

hello. the Hold pots called. they want your attention.

they're probably slightly off.

Would they cause the issue to occur on both monitors, depending on which input I use? The instruction screen works fine on both the upper and lower monitors. The game screen does not?
That being said, I probably need to change the pots anyhow. This cab was sitting on someone's back porch for a loooong time and I have never seen any monitors more in need of cap kits. These things are rough.

I capped the monitors, hoping this might fix the issue, and it only made it marginally better. After I hooked them both back up, I was getting the same issue, so I switched the connectors and actually got a steady picture. I thought that solved it, but when the machine cycled to the next game in demo mode, or when I choose a different game, I got the same issue.
Now, I only did the basic cap kit from Bob Roberts, so are there some other caps I should look at?

Also, please note that there is no rolling of the picture. What you see in the first post is a steady picture with no movement (other than when I move characters onscreen).

*scratching my head*

You could try bypassing the filter board on the pcb. It may not be the problem, but it's easy to rule it out. Reseating the connectors may help as well. - Barry
