Switching Power Supply, +24v?

Well, I tried what you said, and got links to a bunch of Peter Chou supplies, but no 'builder'.

I did, however, find one on eBay that I can use.

So, thanks. :D

Anyone know of a source for a switching power supply that provides +5v and +24v? (Doesn't matter if there's a +12v or not..)

Thanks!
-Mike

The one that I use to replace power supplies in my crane games is from the following seller on ebay. This supply puts out:

+5V at 12 Amps
+5 and -5 R/G Display
+12 at 6 Amps
+24V at 6 Amps
+48 at 6 Amps
Total Max Power: 280 Watts

I have bought dozens of these supplies and at $29 is a real good price for a new supply.

Ah, interesting - I wasn't even thinking of a power supply like that. i was thinking of one of the arcade-style ones.
I like that one better as it can support LEDs if I ever get rid of the florescent bulbs.

Thanks guys!

What arcade games used +24v? And for what?

You know what?
Really effin' smart question. My PC10 uses it. The old one in the game (which is dying..) has it, I didn't question it.

However, now, looking at it, the +24v input to the came control is ONLY USED for the Coin Counters..! It's connected to a DS75451 chip, which is just a driver control, where the inputs are connected to the coin switches.

So! Never mind then. I can just get a +5/+12v and leave it at that.

I use a Meanwell cnc quad switching power supply.
5V +12v -12V and 24vdc
Originally design to run desk top CNC machines. Not cheap but they seem to work well.

FWIW, some Atari vector PCBs use +24 and -24V, which they regulate down to +/-15V, for the analog vector signal amplifiers, which generate the XY signals for the monitor.

Unfortunately My need for speed underground and I need to find a replacement. the 24 v looks like it is powering the force feedback part of the steering wheel. The steering works, but the force feedback does not.

Now my question is the power supply I have says 24v 4.7 A If I get a Power supply that is 24 5 A, and I going to blow the thing up ? This is the first time I am dealing with a non "standard" switching power supply.

It will work just fine. As long as the voltage is the same, amperage can be equal or greater. Thinking of other games that take a 24v power supply ... That's what point blank and time crisis namco recoil guns use as well

Thanks newsheriffintown.

The voltmeter was only showing 3.4 v and the red light was not even on. Was weird since the usb from the computer and the steering wheel wires were playable on the board, but the 24 v must go into the board and right out to the FFB motor wires. If the power supply fixes the ffb I will be a happy camper. Other wise I hope the motor in the arctic thunder still works.

Still more work to do, shifter is out of order, but I am sure that is the Nytric IO boards and a whole other thread.

Thank you for your help :)

some games with LCDs have the displays powered off 24V instead of 120V AC. I had to replace one such power supply with this one: https://na.suzohapp.com/products/power_supplies/80-0216-00

ICE apparently uses 24V displays. they understandably run pretty hot, the caps are what go on the Peter Chou ones. I actually rebuilt one of those on my family's Deal Or No Deal cause money was so tight at the time we couldn't pop for a new one.

First I love the get smart. I have the dvd set :D Fav show as a kid, (nick at night with grandma)

That is kind of where I am at with money right now. Work slowed up, waiting on 4 checks from reffing ice hockey, student loans wants a piece, Pretty much right after I bought this thing. If I do not have to spend 50 bucks on a PS I would be happy lol. It was a peter chou PS too.
I see a lot 24v PS on e bay but they are only 2 amp. The manual does not tell me the amp. requirements. OO I need to check the motor. Thanks for reminding me. I found the motor and the amps are only 1.51 But I do not know what happens from the time power enters the board to then out to the motor. Not sure any of my projects are ever cheap and simple.
