Just got a neo geo turned out to be a 4 slot...

Saw bubble bobble playing when I picked up but when I plug it in now it goes straight to baseball. Can't figure out how to switch games. It's on free play if that matters.

swap the carts to see which on it boots to. You would have to look at the wiring diagram to see if its wired correctly.

Well I boutnit from a dentist office and when she plugged it in it went to bubble bobble . When I got home and plugged it in went to the other game installed Baseball.

Surely there is a way to switch games without removing the carts. There has to be a selection screen to exit back to.

dedicated NGs have a "switch game" button, i can only guess per that control panel that the middle white button is supposed to be the switch game button
Yeah it just keeps restarting the same game attract mode. Maybe need to reseat the other cart. Probably it now that I think about it.

Not a true Neo Geo cab. Looks to be a Dynamo HS-5. Doesn't matter though. You should have player 1 and player 2 start as well as select game. Make sure
Bother carts are
Pushed in.

The Neo Geo 1-Slot units are 100% JAMMA. The Neo-Geo Multi-Slot units are not fully JAMMA compatible. More than likely someone simply threw that 4-slot into a Dynamo thinking it would work fine.

If a cart isn't being recognized or is "missing" from the board's perspective, it will be skipped when you hit Select Game and the next available cart will be selected. I would remove the carts, clean the cart and slot contacts well, and reseat.

On my 2-slot I sometimes have to insert the cart until it is fully seated, then back it out by maybe 1/8" to get it to be happy. Sometimes even adjusting the "tilt" of the cart in the slot does it. Once I have a game booting reliably with no audio or graphical glitches it stays stable but it's sometimes finicky (on mine at least) to get a cart to a happy place when first swapped in. Whether you removed/reinserted the carts before/after transport or you transported it with the carts installed (which might have put stress on the slot connectors), they may no longer be seated right.

I'd also obviously check the switch on that Select button, make sure a contact didn't come lose or the micro switch itself dislodged during transport. But if pressing that attempts to switch games and just restarts the one cart that is booting right, the button/switch is probably OK.

Why didn't my dentist have a NeoGeo when I was a kid? Maybe I would have gone more often…

Yeah I'm about to mosey out to the barn and check it but likely I'm thinking it just got a bumpy ride in the back of the truck. Gotta be it.

Not bad for $200!

It is a hs5 but I think I know where a real neo geo cab is I can swap everything over to.

Yeah it was a loose cart. All good now.

Wanna see the worst bondo carnage ever?

They even smeared it on the wires and buttons. Shame shame shame

I wonder if that was a Street Fighter or something before it was converted to MVS. Now inspect that Puzzle Bobble cart and see if it's a boot or if it's authentic!

How can you tell about the puzzle bobble?

I always knew this game as bust a move

Its correct name is Bust-A-Move. Most people call it Puzzle Bobble, as it was named in Japan.

Check out MVS Scans to see what the board layout should be like, along with the game-specific NGH (catalog) number on each chip. With only a few fairly uncommon exceptions there should be no EPROMs on a cart, it should all be ROMs with the chip ID and the NGH number screened on it. If you see mismatching NGH numbers on chips, or lots of EPROMs, or smaller, modern flash chips bodged into spots where larger ROMs should be, it's a bootleg. You can see on the link below, though, that legit Bust A Move carts do have 1-2 EPROMs in specific locations.

Bust-A-Move was one of the most bootlegged MVS carts because it was so popular on location. My MVS came with one, and when I checked basically every chip was an EPROM. Total bootleg.
