switches under playfields. when to clean? when to replace?

im working on a laserball (williams 1979) all the switches have nasty amounts of green corrosion on almost all the switches...
so question when is it time to replace them?
they could be cleaned but look quite old, bent and all that.
any hints would be helpful
what contact cleaner works the best?
thanks for ay help i searched and couldnt find a thread on it...
ill add some pics to show you guys...its for a customer
either way,its gonna take awhile to replace or clea them all...;)

As long as the actual *contacts* are clean, the rest isn't relevant to the function of the game. If you want the switches to all look clean/pretty, and the game is immaculate otherwise, you could certainly replace them to improve the cosmetic appearance..

Go nuts with a business card for 30 minutes or so between the contacts, and I'd think you'd be in good shape.

If there is the loose/white/powdery residue on them, just use a shop vac and a brush to get all that crud off of them first.
