couple questions real quick before I start this

ing1o.jpg

I believe this is where im swapping for the video sync connector? what way does it need to go in?

is this where the ground that goes around the monitor plugs in (below)?

ing3.jpg

now with this I already have one connected up I was just going to use part of the new one and crimp the two pieces together (old ground around monitor and new ground coming out of chassis?) is that ok to do?

also with the power cord that needs to be changed over does polarity matter? I swear I read somewhere that it does not

thanks

Pete

I've done a few of these the last couple months.
Power chord polarity doesn't matter.
As far as the monitors signal input you can either do as you mentioned (splicing old connector into the new connector) or you can unsolder the current header connection and solder in one that'll work for you.

Some Wei-Ya's have 1 ground off the left side of the chassis and some have 2 grounds off the chassis (left and right side). What I usually do (using the factory signal cable) is ground both leads to the frame as well as the ground for the power (if using the one that came with the monitor) and then using the ground on the signal cable (black ground wire with the crimped on loop connector) screwing that into the chassis and then of course using the other end to screw into the ground terminal on the switching power supply. The pic points to where I screw the ground in because every frame I've had has a hole right there to be used which is perfect!

The E on the neck board is indeed a ground. I've tried with and with out and saw zero difference. But hey it's there might as well use it right?

As far as sync goes - depends on the game being used. Worst case scenario is you tie both sync wires together. This is a trial by error - you won't hurt anything ;)

The "locking ramp" of the Molex connector will install with the ramp on the left next to the r-g-b-e-s lettering on the board.

You'll have to unsolder the phony 5 pin connector first in order for the Molex connector to fit.

The single pin on the neckboard is intended for the picture tube ground wire that comes from the stretched spring. Sometimes there's a duplicate single pin ground pin on the main board.

its not going to be the same set the black connector came out of correct its going to be the one right next to it

Yes that is correct. When you remove the black connector the new connector will go into the middle set. There's a rectangle drawn around the middle set on the board.

ok we have picture all screwy but we have picture!!!

what should I adjust now?

The "SCREEN" control on the flyback needs to be turned down a tad bit (counterclockwise) to get rid of the white lines.

Horizontal hold needs a slight adjustment.

Let's see a picture of the video/sync wiring.

Looks like you got the video/sync connector installed properly.

The rocker switch on the remote board is to degauss the picture tube. Provided of course you connected the degaussing coil to the new Wei-ya chassis.

"video1963" used to have an adequate writeup on swapping the Wei-ya on a k7000 monitor, but it disappeared a few months ago. There's what's left at the Wayback Machine:

im also getting a backwards image? i dont know where that is coming from

the degaussing coil is also plugged in

There are two connectors for the yoke right beside each other on the main board. One set of connector pins gives a normal picture. The other set of pins reverses the picture.

Turn the power off. Unplug the yoke connector from one set and plug it in to the other set.

Now turn it on and see how it looks.

ok image flipped that I switched the yoke problem now is I cannot get a steady picture, it keeps moving from side to side and the colors are all messed up

When you give the degauss rocker switch a quick peck, the picture should degauss. If not then you'll probably need a handheld manual degausser to degauss the picture tube.

The vast majority of universal replacement chassis (regardless of brand/model) only accept composite negative sync. Generally only the horizontal negative sync gets connected to the monitor.

What game are you using this monitor on?

According to the ninja turtle manual it generates composite negative sync.

There must be something wrong with the sync wiring either in your cabinet harness connector or on the foil side of the monitor main board.

Let's see a picture of the foil side of the monitor's video/sync connector. It means unbolting the main board temporarily (power off naturally) and flipping it over to photograph it.
