Hi all, have a question I havnt been able to find an answer for. Ok, so I have an MK2 with the kick harness (obviously), now if I want swap the board out with one that doesn't require the kick harness, say Final Fight for example, do I need to unhook the kick, or jus swap the boards and go at it?

Similar question, say I swap mk2 for Street Fighter 2 CE, will I need a kick harness that is compatible with that game or are they universal? Will I have to reprogram/switch anything on the kick so it receives the correct input when different buttons are hit? Been wanting to pickup a few boards and was wondering...

For boards that use 3 buttons or less it should be just a swap.

Street Fighter II games will need their own kick harness connected to the 3 extra buttons. But MK only uses 5 buttons doesn't it? Does your control panel have 6 buttons for Street Fighter 2?

Some kick harnesses are compatible, others not. MK and Street Fighter are not, but for instance Street Fighter Alpha and Dark Stalkers are compatible -- both made by the same company, same era.

You can just plug Final Fight into a jamma cab and play, so long as you have 2 8-ways and 2 buttons per player. If the MK kick harness is not hooked up, those 'kick' buttons are not going to do anything.

Thx, I figured it would have something to do with companies having their own harnesses.

Yea, mk2 only has 5 buttons, but didnt know if the harness was universal and it just didn't use any extra buttons (like SF would).

I'm not too interested in 6 button fighters on this machine, but I will look into low count button jammas.

I'm assuming most boards that require a harness are sold with it, or are easily obtainable when the time comes.
