Well,

Some of you may recall the hell that I went through to get the SW side art off. Unfortunately that was only the beginning. It seems this cab has just decided to be a royal pain in the ass...

Lets see...

MARQUEE INSTALLATION - Some may know i managed to break my freakin SW marquee frame. Well, I put it together, but it's not 100% right. After installing the marqueee overlay I determined the frame was a little "off" because of the break. Bottom line... it looks fine unless you really look hard... but it'll have to do.

YOKE ART INSTALLATION - Yeah, this should be real easy, right? Well, it was.. for the most part... but of course I managed to screw it up somewhat. But again, a little more work and it came out decent... but if you look real hard you can see the screw up.

COIN DOOR - Jesus... I had 3 nice folks send me parts from 3 different coin doors. I chose the nicest combination and painted. Well, guess what... the freakin coin bezels don't fit on the coin door i chose... the door I chose used the slightly thinner PLASTIC coin bezel whereas I painted up the nice METAL versions. Unfortunately the god damned INSIDE parts that you need to keep the actual plastic "reject buttons" in place was designed for the coin door/bezel I couldn't use on the nice coin door... Bottom line... I wasted time and paint because I had to move on to the OTHER not-quite-so-nice door and paint that bad boy... which is where I sit today.

What should have taken a 5-6 hours restoration time has taken me about 20 thus far... and I'm not done.

But at least she's a "keeper", eh?

Never give up, never surrender!

Oh, wrong space movie.

But still....keep at it and don't let it beat you. It will be nice when it's done!

Wow sorry to hear that. But you will appreciate it when your all done. Did you get the new art installed on it yet?

Not the side or front art... just the marquee and yoke art.

QUESTION: The front art did not come cut to size... is that normal (from Phoenix Arcade)?

Son of a F'ing B!!!

I just went out to put the damned coin door (2nd one) I painted yesterday together... got it together... went to put it in the frame...

THE DAMNED HINGE IS 1/2" TALLER than the other ones!!!! This "f" ing door won't work....

>sigh<

Well... I am at square one it seems.

I have no other door to put on the damned thing. The door that was on there won't work with the bezels that I have. The door that works with the bezels I have won't work with the frame I have... I am screwed.

Jesus this isnt' supposed to be this hard.

...and here i thought all over/under doors from the same period were the same. They are not.

SO... I am back to needing a damned door that will work with this frame, or better yet... a whole god damned over/under door assembly that will work with a Star Wars.

Anyone have any old parts around?

F!!!!

Might want to post up some dimensions or pics or something of what you're working with .... somebody may have over/under parts, but no SW to check them on.

Anyone know if a SW came with the PLASTIC bezel doors or the METAL bezel doors? I figure I better go from there.

It sure sucks that I have 3 doors, 2 frames, and a ton of parts and still can't put a set together.

Jez...

BTW ... the sad part is the game is on FREEPLAY and I only need the damn doors to make it look right... and by "works" i mean "fits"...

What should have taken a 5-6 hours restoration time has taken me about 20 thus far... and I'm not done.

there are restorations that only take 5-6 hours? Wish I had some of those. Even 20 is pretty light weight. Pretty sure I've got 4 or 5 partial restorations in the garage that already have 20 hrs a piece into them and none are even half done.

Here are some photos what what I have. Ideally I'd like to find coin and return bezels and the backside hardware associated with them for the door on the RIGHT in the pictures... the plastic bezel door... the reason being, if I went with the metal bezel door I would need a new frame and a new lower door...

why dont you just cut down the hingle a little???

ive ran into that alot like the happ, coinco, and somebody else have simualr coindoors, but theyre all just different enough not to work with each other without persuasion.

my sw has the metal type of door.
the only thing that is platic is the red "push to reject" button.

Thanks Doc...

Seems like I am down to either cutting the hinge (which would require a bit of work actually...hard to explain)... or getting a new frame...

>sigh<

I just discovered a bigger issue... I was under the impression that the SW side art was "full" side art. It is not. It covers about 90% of the cab but the border and the top marquee area are not covered. I sure wish I knew that as I friggin' painted the cab in FLAT BLACK for adhesion purposes. I am possibly going to have to re-paint the friggin' cab satin or semi-gloss... depending on how anal I decide to be... I think the contrast of the sticker to flat paint may look sort of cool... but if it doesn't...it sure would be a bitch to repaint with the side art in place.

The saga continues....just think how nice it'll be when you're done with that f'n game.

Hey, did you ever decide what to do about the wood marquee frame? Re-glue it or did you find another?

Guess what...

Can't cut the hinge... why? Because the freakin CORNERS of the doors are different! The freakin' door I want to use has tighter corners than the other (or the frame)... meaning that the door won't freakin' fit!

Basically I realized that the frame I have isn't an Atari frame...

I have a couple options:

(A) Get parts for this non-atari door

(B) Get Atari bottom door and frame

>sigh<

It just might be easier to look for a whole/complete freakin' door.

For now, I may just rob Paperboy of his coin door and when I get to his restoration, deal with this crap then.

I may be parting my Pit Fighter game shortly after I get permission from Greg. :) If I do, it has a similar over/under coin door that I could let you have for pretty cheap. It's not an exact match since it's not an entirely smooth surface on the front but it appears to be the same exact size. I can do some measuring if you are interested. They are both Atari cabs. There's pics here:

And for comparison purposes:

Here's the original SW coin door:

Jon, I have a sh-tload of over/under coin doors.
I took them off of mainly Atari's but got knows now there is juat a big pile.
I am positive that I have whatever you need.
I'll dig a few of them out after work this evening and take some measurements...
They're mostly intact/complete nice ones that I pulled off of converted machines.

HOW LONG DO YOU NEED THE HINGE PART TO BE?
That seems to be the best area/way to measure it.

Also if you were to cut yours shorter the holes don't line up...

I'd be more than happy to hook you up with any parts that get your project rolling...
They're just sitting here waiting for you!
