Drama

Ok, then I opplogize for taking it the wrong way... As for drama with me in the past, none that I can think of.. Let me know what it was, as that's news to me.. Weird

I'm tempted to order something from him. Every time I've attempted to, he has verbally abused me even though I've never actually had any kind of transaction or significant interaction with him. It's just weird to me. On the other hand, he still answer tech questions on the board when I asked them and it was very useful. I mostly just find the whole situation entertaining and have no hard feelings for him. He has told me never to order anything from him so I think I just might.

I just ordered from him and the I received a shipped notice 10 minutes after I paid him. I have had great service 100% off the time from Mark. Not to mention the technical advice he has given me on 50 occasions. That guy is always going to get my support.

Oh I don't doubt that he's great to deal with if he likes you. He just decided one day that he didn't like me. He says it's because of what happened with Sundance. But that's not his real reason.

did you try to jehuie him down on something? :)

I agree RAM was a business, but the esb kit in this example is $200 and cannot be successfully compared to the RAM fiasco and asking for thousands of dollars up front.

There is nothing to agree on here. The law is clear. Accepting money in return for an advertised service is business. An individual may be able to slide on a handful of people claiming to be a hobbyist but technically that person is still subject to commerce laws. Taking money from 15-20 people removes any doubt and would be viewed strictly as a business venture by a court of law.

I think we meant business as is main source of income and where you spend the majority of your work time. At least that was my meaning when loosely using the term. KLOV is not a court of law so it should be allowed here. :) The real topic being debated/discussed is whether or not it is acceptable here for people to request a prepayment prior to delivery of agreed to product.

Any agreement between a willing buyer and a willing seller is acceptable. Anyone can choose to risk prepaying or not, or fronting manufacturing cost or not, at any time.

I completely agree. Some however voice a distaste (understandably so due to RAM, but I don't agree) for prepay orders and believe the seller should always front the build costs. This is where the term "business" crept in, because some people do this work on the side and have limited funds to be able to put several thousands on the line, meaning they are not running a full fledged business operation, but do make some money on the side in a business transaction. My point was at peril to the community, talented people would not provide products if there was no prepay. To your point, it is all moot anyway if there are willing sellers and buyers in agreement, but that doesn't stop the discussion. :)
