Hi;
I'm troubleshooting a Star Wars which is blowing F2 on the power brick.
I cannot pin point the short as it comes and goes.
I get continuity from "E" on the edge connector to ground when I check with my DMM 3 or 4 times and then the 5th time, it's gone!
This happened several times and it is frustrating, to say the least.
I checked the schems and F2 (+10.6vdc) goes to the coin door, (N/C) to the coin counter, (unplugged) and to the PCB at "E".
I see that it feeds the watchdog reset, it there anything else that it feeds from that circuit????
What would cause the short to come and go like that, other than a short in the wiring harness?
Has anyone else come across anything similar?
Thanks in advance.
Jeff

Checked them and they both tested OK, I checked several times as the problem comes and goes but it did not re-materialize.
I rebuilt the power brick and the A/R II and next is the Deflection and HV PCBs, (I was going to anyway).
After I get it all rebuilt, I'll check at the harness BEFORE I hook up the monitor to see if I got it.
BTW, what does the +10vdc supply on the game PCB?
Thanks
Jeff

I can tell I'm going to ned your help Dokert. lol Just orderd the big cap kit for my Go7cbo...My Star Wars game picture was going bad. When I bought the game I knew I was going to have to rebuild it. My F3 is looking brown on each side of the fuse? It looks like they put a solid fuse in. That can't be good. One good thing is I did just get some extra stuff in the bunch of games that I just got. A few extra boards and a few extra power supplies. And get this one power Brick and two extra II boards. How lucky is that for extra parts. I might have to do a post of before and after with the kit. Just thought I would ask about the F3. Thanks

It gives you the power to make the +5vdc and powers the audio amps on the A/R II

I was wondering what the 10vdc does on the game PCB, it leads to "E" on the SEC and after I went through the schematics, it appears that it only also powers the POR, (sorry, I originally thought it was the watchdog).
Is this correct or does it do something else as well?
I am trying to figure out if the game PCB could be the cause of the F2 blowing and as the game was not working when I started to troubleshoot, I cannot rule anything out.
Thanks
Jeff

No problem.....
I don't like it when I cannot prove a faulty component.
I like to know that the surgery was a success!
I guess I am going to have to wait until everything is rebuilt and see how it goes.
