Purists beware!

So I picked up a really rough Suzuka 8 Hour 2 for $50. Needless to say, it's in rough condition, so instead of parting it out, I thought I would get er' good enough to use for a while in the church youth group's arcade.

Power supply is junk and could not find one. It was covered in mystery juice (probably coca cola) and rotted out - not safe to rebuild - too far gone, so I wired up a new $20 one. The stock power supply has a DP switch that turns on AC to the monitors and also throws AC to the DC transformer. Using the new PS, wired it up and guessed at wires colors. The only one I was afraid to take a chance with was a WHITE wire.

I checked schematics online, and none of the scans are clear enough to read. So where does this WHITE go on my new power supply? See the pic for details.

Thanks,
mongoosetoo

Nevermind - figured it out

Just traced the wire to no where! The whit wire goes into the plug and has no wires hooked to it on the other side. It's a blank!

Maybe it was used on a different arcade that needs it, but not the Suzuka 2.

Thanks.

those Suzuka 8 hour 2 game boards are big
I don't think that dinky switcher you have in the picture can power it for very long if at all but who knows, maybe it can

good luck

I hope it can too. Seems fine today. Ran it for a few hours with no probs, we'll see. If it gives me any issues, I'll split the games off to their own independent PS.

Thanks

Thinking about converting the Suzuka to a Manx TT

Ok, the Suzuka is neat but gets boring fast and the cabinet is water logged and falling apart. Thinking about parting it out or maybe - converting it to Manx TT. I realize its a Namco versus a Sega, but was hoping the controls on the bike are close enough to use.

Anyone know anything about this kind of swap? Also thought about making a MAME driver out it. Open to suggestions.

Thanks.

cabinet is water logged and falling apart

cabinet is all done
those monitors could be put to good use in another cabinet

tough to sell those game boards
motorcycles are almost useless

cutting up the cabinet is a headache
lots of work and you still have to dispose of the remains

I stay away from those now since I went through 2 of them just for the monitors for better games/cabinets

your mileage may differ

Agreed. But I've always wanted a Manx TT. Thought the hardware may be usable in a swap. I may just put it in the youth group arcade for a while until I figure out. The machine will get good use there until the kids get bored with it.
