Suzanne Ciani

Great link! I love analog synthesis, esp. 'Switched-On' covers and other early electronic experimentation. Interesting that it's her voice that made it into the game too.

The narrator makes me feel as if I should be wearing a corduroy jacket with elbow patches while I smoke a pipe as I watch.

I have never heard the words "pinball manufacturer" spoken in such a pretentious way.

...and I quote..."When commanded by an outside computer these bits are spat out rapidly.."

Wow, thanks for the link! That was really cool.

Xenon was always one of those games with rather "suggestive" sounds. Looks like she had a good time making them as well.

Love the end in the arcade where all the "old" games were new!

Thanks for sharing that link!

That narrator is one of the most famous British actors of the 20th century: Peter Ustinov. :) The show is "Omni: The New Frontier."

You might remember him from a little 1976 film called "Logan's Run" or as Agatha Christie's super slueth: Hercule Poirot. Along with the many roles he played he was also an esteemed voice actor. He played Prince John in Disney's Robin Hood and he also narrated one of the most famous recordings of Peter and the Wolf.

My favorite line in the broadcast:

"Sound chips are new. Today we here Suzanne's voice for five seconds. In the future, women with soundchips in their earrings will listen to... Beethoven's symphony."

I would definitely say I recall his voice from Disney's Robin Hood. It was one of my favorite kids movies when I was younger. I even have it on laser disk! I am wanting to say I had a recording of Peter and the Wolf as well but I can not be certain.

I can only image if that were the case. Instead we have Lady Gaga and "artists" killing one another in night clubs or beating their wives. Then again, I guess anytime after his time is technically the future, so society could could come around.;)

That's crazy. Back in the day... mid 80's... I used to listen to her music and even have a couple of CDs. I had no idea she had anything to do with coin-op games. Very cool.
