Suspicious eBay auctions

@mclemore Thats a typical ebay scam, happens every weekend.

1) Hacker scrapes hundreds \ thousands of ebay ads along with pictures and puts them in a database

2) Hacker ads his own text image to the ad, the text looks like this

The Buy It Now price will be super low compared to the 'original' ask price. Always a pawnshop, always california, always multicolored text. The payment link or phone number to contact changes every week.

3) On the illegal market, the hacker buys compromised \ dormant ebay accounts. The better the feedback, the more that account costs.

4) On Friday Night \ Saturday morning US time they access the hacked account and use a loader to list hundreds or thousands of these ads, all with that 'buy it now' image which cant be read by the ebay software. If you look at the seller account and sort for 'new' postings suddenly there will be thousands with the same start time.

Often they'll post the same ads to two or even three hacked accounts at the same time. A fun thing to do is find one of these 'hacked' ads, search for that item on ebay, and a couple more may appear under different seller names. All hacked seller accounts.

5) Then they man the payment website on Saturday morning to immediately transfer out any money that comes in. They'll respond if you send them a message, very polite. They ignore any bids people make on ebay of course.

Has been happening for years. I used to get notified every Saturday morning when my search bots would report whatever electronics I was looking for had appeared at a great price. Ebay doesnt care because if you pay using the hacker's terms you've violated ebay's terms and they're not on the hook.

Look up several of the sellers' items and report them all as 'I suspect fraud,' they'll lock the account within a couple of hours.
lol I just bid $10 on an auction for a coin op Pac-Man that started for a dollar. FREE SHIPPING! i figured id be outbid shortly or if nobody bids on it then I get a super awesome deal!
I wondered if it was a scam.

Scroll to the bottom. Those guys always say bids will be ignored. Or E-BAY deletes the listing.

I didn't see anything about cancelling any bids. but someone else has posted a bid. Its up to $5.50 now.

Check the full description. This seller is closing his pawn shop. Checking item location over multiple listings shows multiple item locations.

We are ahead of the curve here . When they get back to work at e bay they will probably reference this to help study the issue .AI might learn from us seeing bs .

Auctions have been pulled down. The sellers location(s) were all over the country. Now, only auctions still running are in Norway if memory serves
