Suspicious eBay auctions

It's one organization. They have a database of scraped ads. They post different ads to different stolen accounts at the same time. That way if one account is reported as hacked they have a couple more accounts already running, don't want to sit down for a shift and have nothing to do.

Oops, being taken down before I can bid. I should wait to report these until AFTER they respond to me.

If you are stalking me or seriously want one of these, I am your huckleberry. I have a Shoot the Spook waiting for redemption. My Shoot the Jap (but he looks Chinese) is near completion.

What would be the goal of hacker in posting these fake auctions? Do they get usernames of watchers or bidders?

FOMO

I think the same thing with these phone scammers. Yet, I keep seeing on the local news off all these people losing money to them.

I think this scammer has about 5000 items selling for a dollar . Much less likely someone will want to get the one dollar back .then spend the time getting it back . But that doest make sense if its somone else account and they can't get to the money.

@jacklick, @RUSTINGEEZER, their goal is to get $$$

1) Hacker scrapes hundreds \ thousands of real ebay ads, along with pictures, and puts them in a database

2) Hacker ads his own text\image to the ad, it looks like this

Screenshot 2023-04-03 051932.jpg

The 'Buy It Now' price will be a percentage of the ask price from the original ad, like 50%. The payment link changes every week.

3) On the illegal market, the hacker buys compromised \ dormant ebay accounts. The better the feedback, the more that account costs.

4) When ready, they access the hacked account and use a loader to list hundreds or thousands of scam ads, all with the 'buy it now' text and an ebay 'price' of $1. If you look at the seller account and sort for 'new' postings suddenly there will be hundreds\thousands with the same start time. Often they'll post the same ads to two or even three hacked ebay accounts at the same time.

5) When you go to their link a live person will send you payment instructions for the 'buy it now' price in the colored text and walk you through payment. The goal is to get money transferred to them outside of ebay, they ignore any bids people make on the auction.

Ahh. I didn't even read the details of off ebay payment stuff. I guess it works on some people or else the scam wouldn't exist.
