Was working in midtown when I got a call from one of my techs in the Bronx. He had to trace a line through a neighboring warehouse and found something interesting. "Boss...you're going to want to see this." I stopped by on my way north and rummaged for a couple of hours. Prices were a lot higher on some stuff with this guy, but I grabbed some decent stuff nonetheless. None of the cabinets were worth it. The $100 Star Wars was such due to it being an empty cabinet and it "worked when it was together" as I found out later, but it wasn't in great shape anyway. Only the boards that were in boxes and bubble wrap were salvageable; other stuff was junk which I left behind. He wanted way too much for the CPS2 stuff, so I passed. He had a couple of red tents up until a few months ago so I was really bummed to hear that as I've been looking for one. Nice enough guy though with some connections in the NYC area so we'll see where it leads.....

Video contains some foul language; just a warning if you watch these things with your kids sometimes like I do. Pretty crappy video since I was in a rush. Figured I'd share anyway.

$100 for a SW is quite the score if you ask me. Regardless of condition.

On a side; looks like tonnes of stuff that I'd be drooling over but making conservative offers on. First 15 seconds of your clip shows rows of PCB's! Milk crates full of boxed stuff too.

Yeah the Star Wars was empty and the cabinet was pretty crappy. The RBI Baseball, which was the first thing I saw and wanted, was a disaster and the board was corroded as hell. I thought about it, but with the way it looked, it wasn't worth it, at least in my estimation. Lots of the boards were pretty corroded and junky too. The only stuff that looked ok was the 15 or so boards that I bought (which were in Rubbermaid containers and bubble wrap) and some MVS carts that I didn't yet have. Place was a bit of a dump. Looks like more than it really was. But the added bonus is I now have another op connection in the NYC area which is always a good thing. There's gotta be a ton of stuff squirreled away somewhere in the city (so long as the someone who has it has been able to pay for the space in the city that long.....exorbitantly expensive down there).

Wow. Bad gift horse moment!

Come on man, revel in what you found. Geeze! I'd have loved to have walked through that, and had the chance you had!

I think the yoke on that Star Wars would be $100 alone. Buy the cab, flip it for more and use the extra money to buy some CPS2 boards. :)

I guess you're right; I came off a little harsh there. I guess what I was trying to say is that even though it looked like there was a lot of stuff there that might be worth something, a lot of it was in bad condition. Trust me, in the span of a few weeks I've been able to rifle through two separate ops' stashes with a third stash left to be rifled through. Considering I thought I'd never be able to do that, I consider myself pretty damn lucky. :)

Good point. The tech who was working next door today will be there all week and part of next. Maybe I'll have him go in and inquire......

Thanks for the heads up on the language.

I'm a dad that's excited when I get to watch other people finds and my kids love to tag along...

I'm a sailor when they ain't around but I'm a changing me ways...

Did you film the video before or after you spoke about pricing?
Also, how did you introduce yourself to seller?

I filmed it after. When I met him, he had already had a partial introduction since one of my guys had spoken to the owner and asked if I could come and take a look before I got the call. Not quite sure what he said to him, but the seller knew I was a collector, so I'm guessing he said at least that much. As we headed down the stairs from the loading dock to the storage, he pretty much said he wasn't sure what he had, and told me a price per board that he was looking for. Said he was looking to get rid of stuff, had already sold a bunch of boards to someone in California a year ago, and that I could stay for a while and rummage through the shelves. The price he gave per board was acceptable to me so I was able to go through things with that in mind. I was under the impression that the CPS2 stuff was considered a board; I was incorrect. Star Wars he said he'd get rid of for $100 and that it worked. Then when I went to look at it with one of his employees (the guy talking to me in the video off camera), we found it was empty and pretty crumbly. Not sure what that was about but whatever.

As far as introductions, we talked for a while before I looked and after. Mainly about his business, my business, found out that he grew up near where my father did, chatted about my upcoming wedding anniversary, etc. Took my number and I his. Helped me load my van.

Damn, a walls of boxed pcbs and parts....guy, you need to take a few days and go through it all. There has got to be to boatloads of parts collectors can use.

These videos kill me because there is just so much good stuff being wasted doing nothing sitting on a shelf benefiting no one. Someone that can catalog it all and make an offer on the lot needs to get in there.

Shit, thinking about it, I would have gone through every nook and cranny, bring a boatload of tape and boxes and cleaned up shop.

A big part of the fun is digging under everything to find those hidden jewels.

If you do go back there, please keep me in mind for the Cloak & Dagger marquee. I may be interested in that depending on price (assuming you can snag it and subsequently want to part with it).

If only I had the time. :)

Ok. I almost grabbed the box, but forgot. I will keep you in mind if I go back.
