Superully's ELEKTRO Arkade - the first German arcade YouTube channel

all good things must come to an end - and there's always a new beginning! with that being said, after working on it for a DAMN LONG TIME, i'm proud to announce that I've FINALLY started my youtube channel called "Superully's Elektro Arkade". over the past few months i've been pretty busy going on roadtrips, visiting arcade meetings, doing restoration stuff, destroying things, testing tech and - of course - filming / editing everything. all that (and so much more) can be "re-lived" on my channel. i've put up two short trailers as an appetizer which you can check out and (hopefully) enjoy at the following links:

currently i own 20+ games in various locations and conditions, some of them in my house, some of them in my workshop and some of them still in storage waiting to be brought back to life!
my ultimate goal: the transformation of an old-school basement into a modern amusement area – a place which i call "superully's elektro arkade" …

if you like what you get, if you wanna follow the first german arcade channel or if you simply want to support me, make sure to click on the red button to subscribe ...

p.s.: YES, the channel is (and will be) in german, but it's the content that counts, not the language! And perhaps there are even some americans out there who speak that strange language of mine!

so far I've released 11 episodes - with a new one coming out every sunday. i'm planning on continuing doing so until the summer holidays when the first season finishes and I'm off on vacation …

episode 1.1
the first "real" episode shows the current (at the time of filming) state of my house, my gameroom-to-be and a critical decision i'm taking for future developments!

episode 1.2
In episode 2, we're going on the road to pick up an airhockey table for the party room, but not only that: we're going to unload it, re-assemble it and - of course - play a round of airhockey as well. finally, some serious destruction is going to happen at the end of the video ...

episode 1.3
In the third episode of superully's elektro arkade we are moving games around - from the gameroom-to-be into the garage in order to be able to tear down a wall for a bigger gameroom experience (which will be happening in one of the next episodes)!

episode 1.4
In episode 4 the guys at FOR AMUSEMENT ONLY near frankfurt opened their doors for a full day of arcade fun at their location - and you can check out my take on it!

episode 1.5
In episode 5 we're doing something completely different and totally NOT-ARCADE-RELATED! i've bought myself a nice new little toy and thought i could do a video about it in case someone cares: i'm testing a robotic vacuum cleaner of the chinese manufacturer xiaomi - my favorite company from china. i think they make really cool products which are of high quality!

episode 1.6
in episode 6 the time has finally come, time to tear down a wall - well, at least punch a small hole into it so that we don't have to use those things called "doors" anymore. so bring in some working colleagues with heavy equipment but - most importantly - don't forget your masks. i promise you, this is going to be one hell of a mess - including an accident at the end!

episode 1.7
episode 7 of my youtube channel shows me visiting this year's toy fair in nuremberg - and having a lot of fun while doing so. unfortunately, it wasn't possible to film everywhere we went and everything we did, but i promise to be back next year even stronger. have fun watching us breathing helium, taking ballons for a walk or playing cardboard pinball machines. oh, and don't miss an unexpected wedding at the end of the episode ...

episode 1.8
episode 8 sees us following the call of a liquidator who listed quite a few video games on ebay - with horrible descriptions. therefore it's my duty to check out those machines in "real life", especially because two arcade buddies of mine asked me to have a closer look at two specific machines with the hopes of bringing at least one back! the trip was a real adventure and the location alone totally worthwhile the effort ...

p.s.: sorry for the lousy video quality in between, i didn't want to rush in there with a camera in my hands not knowing what to expect, therefore i used a tiny spy cam on my jacket in the beginning unti i had asked for permission to film!

episode 1.9
in episode 9 we are using some newfound space to bring a real arcade classic (in orange of course) into the living room. afterwards, we're trying to find a suitable seating option, we're building a nice accessory for the cabinet (including a "platform" to present it) and finally - because time and space allow it - i'll be showing off my "mad gaming skills" (don't contemn me, i'll promise to get better within the course of the year).

episode 1.10
walls can be everywhere, above us, below us, to the left and to the right - sometimes even where we don't want them to be! in episode 10 we are carrying out some necessary "wall jobs" like plastering, painting and demolishing - all for the greater good of Superully's Elektro Arkade. once we're done with this pretty boring and tedious work, we can focus on the bigger things which lie ahead!

i know it's not the most interesting of all the episodes i've done so far, but there's a light at the end of the tunnel in the form of an arcade party ...

episode 1.11
in the latest episode (#11) we've been invited to join the opening of the q-arcade, a collection of classic videogames in the basement of the so-called cafe q in coburg. while we're there, we will we testing some of the games they have (as always), anxiously wait for our food and even put our skateboarding skills to the test ...

thx a lot to sven, martin, lutz and andreas for the invitation! we had a great time at your place!

i've released more episodes over the course of the last few weeks and although they are in german (which means most of you guys probably won't understand a single word) i'd be happy to have your support – which means: if you like what you see (probably not what you hear because it's not your language), click the subscribe button to support my channel!

there's a new video coming out every sunday and a lot of cool stuff is going to happen in the episodes to come … i promise!!!

episode 1.12
this time, i'm giving you a short introduction to my workshop, show you the so-called "world machine" and then it's onto the road again for an upgrade of the machine. while we're travelling across germany, i'm not only attempting to break my personal breath-holding record, but we're also visiting a place lost in time which is about to be lost forever ...

episode 1.13
after picking up the "world machine" in the last episode, it's time to unload it, assemble / install it and put it into operation. unfortunately we have to do some slight adjustments with the help of a tool which i normally don't come into contact with ...
without spoiling too much: at the end of the episode i will be able to obtain world domination!

episode 1.14
i thought to myself: after thousands of kilometers on the road, glittering arcade parties and (slow but sure) progress in the basement it's time to return to one of the basic branches of this hobby: the restoration of an arcade cabinet. therefore i crawled deep into "the archive" to get out one of THE classic machines, bring it into my workshop for the full "superully treatment!!
yes, i know, the video is detailed (some might even say too detailed), but since this is the first restauration video on my channel and there are people watching who have never seen a cabinet up close and in depth i thought it might be a good idea to show all the steps necessary to get the game back in shape ...

episode 1.15
the asteroids restoration continues ...
this time we're taking care of the broken corners and the worn edges of the cabinet. i'm showing you the various products i'm using and how tedious it can sometimes be to reach a nice end result!

episode 1.16
this week's show is a so-called filler episode! before we get into full gear from next week onwards there's something boring (but nevertheless necessary) that has to be done, which i have to show you for continuity reasons alone - otherwise you might get confused later on!
no matter how hard it is, sometimes you have to admit that things aren't working the way you had planned / imagined - in our special case i'm referring to my workspace. i've come to realize that there is simply not enough space to work on machines properly, you always have to move stuff around, step over things and be really careful where you're going. therefore i have to do what has to be done, which means moving everything out into a bigger room - i can't tell you how much i hate that! well, at least you're getting to know the "contents of my workspace" a little bit better ...

episode 1.17
after a quick overview about the next steps in the gameroom-to-be there's breaking news live from the elektro arkade!!!
something great is about to happen - something that will put everything upside down ...

episode 1.18
after last week's breaking news it's time to walk the talk! but before we can go "all in", we have to determine the exact position of the pipes plus remove everything unneccessary from the floors and the ceilings. but don't worry: we are already producing a lot of rubble in this video. however, that's nothing compared to next week's show ...

p.s.: a familiar face from a trilogy of films has his first (but definitely not his last) guest appearance!
p.p.s.: in remembrance of the great steinbeck novel "of mice and men" this episode is called "of pipes and walls"

episode 1.19
the wall crew (aka demolition men) marches up to reduce the remaining walls to rubble and dust. at the end of the day we are standing in what will one day be superully's elektro arkade - in blank shape for now, but you can already see the potential this room has to offer.

let's get down and dirty once more!!!

episode 1.20

PARTY TIME!!!

we've been invited to a party hosted by dirk and thorsten in their "arcade wonderland". the reason for that description is very simple: a gazillion fantastic video games (and so much more) make their location a mekka for retro fans. but that's only a part of the experience: nice people, yummy food and drinks, atmospheric music and so much attention to detail. but why don't you judge for yourself?

p.s.: because of the length of the original video i have decided to present this episode in two parts!

episode 1.21

here's the second (and final) part of my visit to the arcade wonderland of dirk and thorsten!

in this episode thorsten is giving us an in-depth look at the gameplay of JOURNEY, his favorite arcade machine. furthermore we are going to "playtest" a few other games PLUS we are travelling back in time for a "musical review" of the 1970s which could be kind of strange for some viewers. don't tell me you hadn't been warned afterwards ... ;)

episode 1.22

in this episode i finally reveal the secret behind the word ELEKTRO in my channel name, because today a journey of six years comes to an end - and a lot of work is about to begin!

All good things come to those who wait …

episode 1.23

today we're taking a closer look at the elektro neon sign by "dismanteling" it first: what is its condition, what about the neon tubes, what are the next steps? we're also trying a few minor repair strategies and at the end of the episode we're going on a roadtrip which is essential for the sign's future!

Very nice, never knew of your channel but now i'm a subscriber :)
Not a lot of dedicated arcade content around in german!
Liebe grüße aus wien

episode 1.24

time for another tech test: after the phenomenal robot vacuum cleaner here's my latest china gadget, a xiaomi mi drone with a 4k camera. i had wanted a quadrocopter for a long time and was just waiting for the right moment. this moment had arrived when the new xiaomi drone was offered in the flash sale. GOT IT!!!
in this video we'll be unboxing the drone together, get it up and running and take the first test flights. Welcome aboard!!!
note: although the drone's camera films in 4k, this video is only full hd, because the camcorder i use doesn't support filming in higher resolution!

episode 1.25

work in the elektro arkade continues! after demolishing the walls it's time for the pipes running in the middle of the room to be removed. for that i'm getting professional help in the form of mario and luigi aka the plumbers.

but as expected things aren't progressing as smoothly as possible and at the end of the day (or better: the DAYS) i'm being served a "steep surprise" ...

episode 1.26

the story of the elektro sign continues! first of all we expand our collection of illuminated letters with some nice examples from the 1970s, take a closer look at them, remove the dirt collected by being out in the open for 40 years and finally come to a decision which will change EVERYTHING i had planned so far – at least when it comes to the plan of attack for the neon sign!

episode 1.27

today something different – but still arcade-related. i was in the mood to "construct" again and therefore ordered something dirt-cheap from china (wherelse?). of course i didn't do that without a reason and for those of you who don't wanna watch me build crazy stuff (i dare you), you can skip to the end where the results and my motivation behind it will be revealed – from minute 31.38 onwards. However, if you decide to do so you're going to miss out on some great music …

episode 1.28

After the removal of the walls and the pipes we now have a huge space at our disposal. And although the flooring is one of the last things we are going to do it can't hurt to make your choice now – and that's exactly what we are doing in this episode.

I'm curious to hear your thoughts about my choice …

episode 1.29

After making the choice for the flooring it's time to turn our attention to the ceiling, meaning apart from the obvious drywall what else are we going to put UP THERE, what about lights / illumination?

Without giving too much away I can already tell you it's going to become EXTREMELY retro and I'm pretty sure that – while watching this episode - some of you guys will ask yourself "WHAT THE HECK …?"

Superully, those phone adjustable led lights look sehr shoen, Vo kann ich kaufe das auch? Would you mind sharing the link?

Thanks!

Gives me a chance to dust off mein deutsche,
I know only about a third of what you are saying,
but it's fun to figure it out. Sehr fleißig!
