SUPERAUCTIONS is back, STL, FL, TEX

The fact that Superauctions listed their auction for the 14th of May one week before American Amusements smacks of shenanigans. My understanding is that they did not pay their fees for the use of the Rodeo Arena at their last auction so I am not sure why The arena would offer to rent to them again. Perhaps he is paying up front. I do know that the American Amusements auction has over 300 pieces already committed for their auction on the 21st. I also know that Rob does not have a license to auction in Texas hence the reason he is using Zuber to sell at their auction. Zuber was at their last Superauction and is completely out of the loop as far as the history of Superauctions and their lack of payment history. He is also not very aware of market value for some games so as a seller you can be sure that he will not be able to get top value/dollar for your game. Their was an entire row of 25" jamma cabs working that sold for $25-$50 at the last superauction. After fees etc, as a seller, I would have been pissed to walk away with $25 for a game I had hauled to the auction. Yes, I know it is the buyer that ultimately determines the final price but it is up to the auctioneer to command the highest possible price. It is a strange game to play and one that I think most of us like to win. If you are a seller, I would recommend going with American Amusements in order to get top dollar for your stuff. Personally, I think any seller at the Superauction should be very careful in their consideration to sell. I would rather place anything I have for sale with American Amusements instead. Their fees are less and they have been very upfront in their dealings. It takes a lot of work to get an auction ready and to put on an auction of this size is very expensive. Let's support the little guy and try to keep the fees down so we can get more bang for our buck. Just my 2 cents.

Oh yeah, if you want to have a little fun, be sure to get to the Superauction early to see what happens when the sheriff arrives.

The American Amusements guys are perhaps more honest / fair than Rob. But the guys who have become "American Amusements" worked for SuperAuctions for years. They have been trained under Rob's tutorage and have unfortunately picked up a lot of the unethical practices.

I hate to be so negative about this. Rob in person is actually a really nice, fun guy who any of us would probably love to hang out with. But I wouldn't ask him to hold my wallet for me. I'm not sure the AA guys would be as fun to hang out with. But then I'm probably not very fun to hang out with either now that I think about it....I'm rather boring.

When it comes to ethics, I think the Auction Game Sales guys and the former USAA guys are worlds above either SA or AA.

I think the idea of the "war of the auction companies" is exciting. I just wish these TX auctions were close enough that I could justify going to both just for the entertainment value. Sounds like the AA one is the one to sell at, and the SA one is the one to buy at. Perhaps the strategy is to go and buy everything at SA, then take it to AA? Hmmm....sounds like a fun gamble. I'm going to check my calendar....

I should be at both of them. Hoping not to buy anything. I might take a couple things to sell at the American Amusement Auctions. They bought those who were waiting in line due to a problem with the computer Papa John's Pizza.

I will be there for sure. I literally just got the mail today and was like well look at this!!!!! Last time at Bridgeton, the prices were great I thought. Too bad it was during the middle of the week though.

I'm going to try and back it to both auctions. I'm not really looking to buy anything as I have two many unfinished projects, that I to work on.it will be interesting to see who will be selling games at the Superauctions vs. American Amusement.

If anyone from the Houston area is going to either of these and has room for one more rider, PM me. I'd be looking at possibly bringing back a pin, but that would be it :)

Anyone know how good old Super Auctions is doing? Rumor was they were going to be at the Fairgrounds in Belleville the first or second weekend of August but nothing is posted on the calender.

Rumor was... they owed the venue in Mesquite, TX, for the LAST show they did... so the venue made them pay for that time and the June show in advance.

Don't know the truth to that rumor but there is some definite truth in that there were approx 40 games for sale at the June event. The sellers said they'd be there and almost zero showed up.

I think people are pissed still. Ex-employees were griping openly about being owed money and having bouncing paychecks, sellers were griping openly about being owed lots of money for previous sales, and I think a bunch of sellers said they'd be there with games, but didn't show just to screw them.
