Just wondering.....got my Super Sprint running a few days ago. I Played for an hour with friends, then did about an hour the other night by myself. I posted a 14,580 after just a few runs on one quarter. The score would have been a bit higher, but I turned back for a wrench once I realized I was getting beat by the lead car, so it would've been a bit over 15k. Which is just off the old WR if I recall correctly.

Not sure about dip switch settings? I'll have to check into it and see what my game is set at.

Anyone know the setting or able to point me in the right direction? I probably pumped more quarters into this game than any other growing up, if there's a chance I can break a record surely it would be on this game.......

thanks in advance for any info

T.J.

17020 according to Twin Galaxies, second place is 16,210... First place score is pretty recent, June 2010. Good luck!

thx for the info....I was trying to register at Twin Galaxies so I could do a search, but they have a completely unreadable "verification code" that I simply could not make out....even after 50 refreshes. What the hell is with that thing? It's like they don't want you to register......Thought it was just me and had my girl try it too, she had no luck either. Also, the site is pretty feeble in general, somebody help them out........that thing is pathetic.

They just "improved" it recently with a design everyone thinks looks like it's from the mid 90's :rolleyes: Anyway, I was there at Funspot when "The Machine" McAllister got the top score on Super Sprint...he plays it REALLY well. I think it'll be tough to beat.

For reference (since you have to be registered to view the scoreboard now, another "upgrade") here's the dipswitch listed for Super Sprint:

Super Sprint CPU PCB (at 6/7A)

1-8 = OFF

Settings of 8-Toggle Switch on Super Sprint CPU PCB (at 5/6A)

1 = OFF/UNUSED
2-3 = OFF
4 = OFF/UNUSED
5-8 = OFF

Note: The above Dip Switches, are not only the FACTORY DEFAULT settings, but are also the correct Twin Galaxies Tournament Settings for this title;

Number of Wrenches To Customize Car: 3
Drone Difficulty: Medium
Track Hazard Difficulty: Medium

Special Rules: This is a 1 Player Only Variation!

thanks for the dip switch info....time to go check and adjust if necessary. I sure hope that my settings are on easy, otherwise that record is soon to be toast.....:)........I kid, I kid.........but who knows? I have a really good grasp on the mechanics of the game so anything is possible.

I couldn't find any footage on youtube, guess I'll have to get set-up to record in the near future and post some clips

...just upped my best to 16,500, haven't checked the dip switches yet though. I always start from the easy track.....the last track is insane at that level. The one before that takes a near flawless run just to get by(the one with 3 gates).

Not sure if I can actually beat that very last track, especially since it's the most difficult of them(the one with the shortcut, on a 45 degree angle, right before the finish line). If I were to beat it, or even get top 2 or 3, I may be able to crest that mark.

Of course, all this may be for nothing as I haven't checked my settings yet.

:)

Here is Dunn's Champ Sprint (I know its not Super Sprint) 19,170 game if it helps at all seeing how someone else drives...

I don't know what happened to that guy. He used to come to Richie's all the time (although Richie had a Champ Sprint back then lol). He also took this rad photo of me at Funspot playing ZK which is my desktop at work. Cool guy.

Yep he's good, but on I'm on par with his skills, maybe better........17,200 at Super Sprint is going down. It would have been beat last night if my "anchor" leg didn't start getting wobbly. I think I could've had 18k if I'd taken points on my 2nd set of wrenches(not sure if that's allowed?) Also, is there a certain track you have to start on? I always start on the easy track which leaves me with the most difficult ones for last. If I could start on any track that might make all the difference.

I noticed the progression of ghost car difficulty got really fast in the last 2 tracks he ran. The second to last is just barely beatable, the final one was borderline impossible......same seems to apply to SS. I can't see beating the final track, the lead car is just too fast, at least on the track I end up playing last. Maybe if I can start on a harder track and end with the easier ones?

OK, so I checked my settings and everything seems to be correct according to this:

http://www.crazykong.com/dips/SuperSprint.txt

I couldn't find any actual toggle switches on the pcb, if I'm not mistaken all the settings can be changed from the test screen? I know that as of now the game is set to:

1 coin = 1 credit
1 coin counts as one coin
no bonus adder

Drone difficulty - medium
Track hazard difficulty - medium
Number of wrenches to customize car - 3

all are factory default settings........is that correct? So I'm good to go? just a bit confused as the manual describes an 8 to 1 toggle switch on the pcb? like you have to change them manually?

any clarification here would be great, thanks

T.J.

also, is taking points instead of upgrades considered cheating?

...any Super Sprint owners care to chime in?

:)

I have smashed this record several times now.......anyone semi-nearby have this game? Wouldn't mind trying on another machine to make sure I'm racing at the right settings, though I'm pretty sure I have been.

My best from starting with the "easy" track so far is 17,480........I've scored a bit over that 3 times starting from the same track John Dunn(youtube WR attempt) did, my best was 19,180. Haven't played much yet(maybe 4hrs total), but I see 20k+ coming real soon.

Going to see if I can find someone to record and post on youtube this weekend....

Johnny Mac's WR is 17,020. If you get a higher score on any game than him, you should write home about it quite honestly.

thx...I was really in the groove just now. I started on the "Dunn" track and made it to the "very hard" track with the 45 degree short-cut.......getting past the track right before that one is very difficult, if you don't get out front right away, it's all over.......on that final track I came in 2nd by a hair, raced it almost perfectly........if I would've caught a timely open gate I just might've caught the leader, which would have meant another 2k+.....I had 2 wrenches when I lost as well. The track after the one I lost on is an "easy" one too....:(...... if I ever beat that last "very hard" track the score could be well into the 22k area possibly, but I'm not gonna hold my breathe, that last track is insane.
