Super Sprint Power up checker board then black screen

I bought a super sprint that originally booted up and I could hear the game play, the monitor needed a fly-back and cap kit. I got the monitor repaired and now the game does not fully 'boot up'.

The monitor displays a checkerboard then goes black, I can not hear any sound as I could before, coin credits no sound... nothing.

Any help would be appreciated...

Connections and fuses checked.

Check your power headers and connectors on the boards, as these are notorious for burning up the headers and connectors.

All ok

What what I can figure there are two power heads to the top board and one to the bottom board. they all look good, and I am getting 5.01v @ each +5 test point and gnd point on the board set.

Is there a troubleshooting or test guide for the board set??

Thanks for the reply.

Wire traces a sign of trouble??

Ok, I have had no luck getting this thing to 'boot'. So on a Hail Mary I took the boards out to let them warm up inside since the Michigan weather and the fact I moved it 40 miles are the only things different between now and the last time the game started normally.

Both the video and the CPU board have trace wires soldered from chip to chip, the video board has the most, I thought I found an open but upon further inspection the wire was soldered from a leg of one chip to the board position of another with its leg cut.

The Serial # of this board is RU00135, are these traces 'factory' or sign of a quick fix??

The traces soldered in do not match the traces on the board.

On the Video board there are traces on chips in ROW 9 chips F and K.
F1 <> K5 and F2 <> K16 (leg cut soldered to board).

Row 12 on what appears to be 2 chips labeled C.
C1P2 <> C1P11
C1P12 <> C2P10 (leg cut soldered to leg)
C2P10 (leg cut soldered to leg) <> C2P2 (leg cut soldered to leg)

On the CPU board there is a trace from chip P on row 5 pin 8 <> F? on row 8 pin 16. each chip is SN74LS244N, the chip on row 8 is to the right of Yamaha chip in the proper orientation with the J connectors on the left.

Its a long winded post I'm sure, and don't know if it should be a separate thread, but out of respect for the forum I posted it here, since it is related to my original post of the machine game not starting up.

Thanks in advance,

Mike
