Someone on facebook noticed my Super Punchout Restore has different "Super" decals on the side. Anyone know if those have been scanned or reproduced? I also noticed my Marquee is a bit different as well. Anyone come across this before?

Looks like the sideart on the flyer. That's pretty cool. Maybe early production, or foreign? What does your serial plate number say?

Did it have the boardset? Some SPO expert here claims there is a missing ROMset out there.

Sadly, no, nobody has reproduced that version. Not even inkjet that I'm aware.

EDIT: Marquee also looks like flyer version.

Thanks for responding... I took some pictures just to show.

It's pretty neat. You should scan the stuff, who knows, Rich @ thisoldgame might want to have it cleaned up and print it (assuming you have a complete piece of sideart on other side).

Dang, I can't even really find a site to buy the red silkscreened version anymore either. That sucks.

If you're able to scan the marquee & have a good side to scan the "super" I'd be interested in buying the set from someone who could reproduce it.

And yes, Maximrecoil did get a hold of me, once my restore is done (just waiting on warmer weather). I will check to see if I have the Venice Beach version. Which would be crazy exciting!

Just an update... If you dig the scheme... I was able to scan and send the files to Rich where he worked his magic!

And did an even cooler version of the side art...

That marquee is exactly the same as the standard version aside from the colors. I vectorized that in 2010 and sent the file to Rich, so to make it like your version is just a matter of changing certain colors. He could even use the same screens that he already made for the standard version and just print with different colors of ink.

Actually, I just checked his website and he's inkjet printing both of those. That's strange. All three of his standard SPO pieces are from my vector files and screen printed. They aren't even possible to print with an inkjet, not with any accuracy anyway, because all three of them use metallic powder silver ink. The best you'd get out of an inkjet printer is gray, which looks nothing like metallic ink.

Your early version of the artwork doesn't appear to have any metallic ink, but they were still screen printed. All classic arcade artwork was originally printed with traditional methods (usually screen printed, sometimes offset printed, and sometimes painted directly onto cabinets with stencils).

By the way, with regard to your cabinet's serial number, it is irrelevant to SPO. That's just the serial number from when it was a Punch-Out cabinet, i.e., before it was converted to SPO.
