So I went to the warehouse shindig in Louisville last weekend, and came back with a 'Capcom Bowling' game that had been converted from a Super Pacman. I've been looking for a Superpac for a while, hoping to find one that I wouldn't feel bad about putting a multigame in. This one looked like just the ticket!

We had really warm and sunny weather today, so I wheeled the cab out into the sun to do some work on it... let's see if I can get this horrible wood siding off and reveal the art underneath.

I faced the side I was going to pull toward the sun for about 1/2 hour, and it really warmed up -- the wood siding is dark and really soaks up the rays. Once it warmed up, the wood siding peeled off really easily. I had only a few little spots where the paint came off, and one patch on one side in the back -- not sure why this one spot didn't hold?

The hard part is going to be getting rid of the glue. It is gooey like dried rubber cement. I was actially able to rub off a patch about 8" by 8" with my thunb, but it was a real pain and took 20 minutes to do. Any ideas...

And now, for the pictures -- sorry, there was no phonebooth available for the costume change!

And here it is, stage 1 complete!

The 'foggy' discoloration on all the art is the glue, it has a weird greenish-white color... hopefully I'll have all this glue off of this cab before too long!

And then to find a decent bezel and marquee for cheap...

Try "Mosenbocker's Lift Off". They have 5 different formulas. The one with the Red Trigger top is for Tape and Adhesive removal. It *shouldn't* harm the finish - read the instructions. It's pretty incredible stuff. Most hardware stores stock it.

Fw1 Racing formula all the way. Spray on, wipe off. It also cleans the cab at the same time.

I once used Goof Off for Defender and Ms. Pac cabs and neither incurred damage to the paint. Rub on with a cloth towel and rub off the rubber crud.

Goo gone and goof off are the same thing just different companys.

I don't think the spray wax will take off the left over glue. I use it on my sons race car and if there is rubber on the body the spray wax will not take it off.

They're not quite the same, if I remember correctly the one sold in the metal cans (Goof Off?) eats plastic, which I found out the hard way once, so I'd be REALLY careful!

Gonna hit the hardware store today and see if they have any of these suggestions.

The glue from the middle of the cab (there the laminate covered it for years) can be rubbed off, but it is a really slow process and leaves some smudges. The hard stuff is the dark crap around the edges, that is all dried out and encrusted with dirt/dust. I'll post progess next week on the glue.

Anybody know if those Midway rubber kick-plates are repro'd anywhere? This cab is missing it. Or does anyone have a spare lying around?

If you look at goo gone there are about 4 different ones, not sure what the difference is. if I rember right there is one that is a adhesive remover.

It takes off adhesive like a hot butter knife through butter for me. Are you using the Fw1 not the GP3 or something else?

All that stuff is the same, it's spray/detail wax. It is meant to use as a detail wax for guys to put on there car the day of a car show to put a quick shine on it. I have used a lot of brands of it and have never found one that will clean anything other then some dust off a car.

Not the same with me... You use this one? rgslabs.com/
Whatever.

I tried the Goof Off in the plastic spray bottle. It 'sort of' worked on the glue, but started to dissolve the paint underneath. So let's scratch that one off the list!
