My super off road came with no volume pot but it some how still had sound which I didn't think would happen. The black and white wire coming from the lower board connect directly into the speaker. I wanted to be able to raise and lower the volume so I put a volume pot in there and wired it so that the white wire coming from the board to the speaker now has the volume pot on it. Sadly I still can't get the volume to go any louder. I can turn it down but that's it. You can hear the fuzz on the speaker like it's super loud but still volume is low. And then if I want the fuzz to go away and I turn it down, well the volume goes down to nothing with it. Help please.

there's a volume pot on one of the 2 boards. it's kind of in the top-middle, there's a hole in the board to access it. I don't remember the psychology of why there's 2 pots beyond one is obviously adjustable from the coin door.

Like @mecha mentioned, check for the volume pot on the bottom board, accessible through a hole on the top board. Not all boards have it though... attached are a couple pics - one you can see the blue pot, and the other is one that doesn't have the pot.

DUDEEEE!!! OK!!!! thanks guys!!!! i am way too excited about this, I will check it out, thanks! saw the hole, didnt see a pot but didnt really look look. If there is no additional pot there, what would be the plan?

why dont you put it on the board where it should be and

I have seen Ataxx with factory no sound pot (you can add it), I have not seen no sound pot on the 5 sets I have worked on.
Wortst case, if its been removed or damaged, you can install another one, the slots will be there for the legs for sure.

oh ok that makes sense. in all my previous super off roads i have always had a sound pot at the coin door, didnt even know there was another one until right now. Didn't know I could add one on the board; but now that I know its a possibility its something I could probably hopefully be able to do with my very very bad solder skills. thanks.

Worst case scenario, you destroy your board.
I used to tell the apprentices I was training that with the right tools, and enough effort, you can make it worse, for sure.

Good luck!

(Pot install is an easy one, not super precise you just need a decent amount of thermal capacity for the bigger legs, you'll be fine for sure)

just talked me out of trying ha ha.

No dude. I am kidding. Thats what I said in brackets. If it's missing, volume pot is an easy one to start with. Not precise and the legs usually are prebent to hold it in place before you solder it.
i saw that part but was very very very scared by the worst that can happen part ha ha.

It has it!!! Yaaaaa but it was already up all the way, turned it and all I could do was go down. Am I doing something wrong here? Or have you had volume issues on other boards?

Maybe one of the lm324's is bad

Are they socketed on the off road? also how does one go about getting replacement chips to install? i cant just install these can I?:

I don't think they are socketed. You can buy them from mouser or digikey. Amazon is not where you want to buy components.

well the not socketed part is a hugeeeee bummer. and got it, but just those generic ones will work? they dont have to be programmed or anything?

No they don't need to be programmed
Is there any way to boost the volume with out messing with the board? They are socketed and my soldering skills are not great. Could I some how hook up a small amp to boost the volume?

no, those parts wouldn't be socketed, games weren't meant to still be in operation 35 years later you know.

what's your concern, that you're going to replace a chip to fix something that's wrong with it?

Ya i looked they certainly aren't socketed. I dont have the skills to unsolder the chip and solder a new one on there. So I was thinking I could cheat and hook up a baby amp to the speaker and bump up the volume that way instead.
