I recently got a super off road and got it working other than the sound.

I've adjusted both pots, installed a new power supply, and haved checked the wiring to the speakers.

I read that zero sound could be the 80186 but I'm finding conflicting information on the speed of the chip. The one currently in my game is 80186-1 but I can't find a replacement that matches it.

Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you!

I ran through the tests and it didn't show anything failed on screen, but still no sound.
For audio section it won't show failed in my experience, it just won't play the sounds it says it's trying to play during audio tests.
Tones, fading tones, 2 second tone and then music.

ohm test the speaker before you get too deep down a different rabbit hole. I don't remember now if the coin door volume pot had any influence over there being sound or not (I think I wound up just removing it entirely cause it's not there anymore?) I just know it was a problem with the game at work until we replaced the speaker (my efforts to reconnect the wires to the tabs was a temporary fix)

the mounting holes on the old one were in a Y pattern instead of the 4 hole square, I don't remember exactly how I mounted the new one because it's hidden behind a wall. start simple. hopefully your speaker is just open.

I've never personally seen a bad 80186, and there are plenty of other things that could cause no audio... so I'd rule out some of the other factors first. The obvious one is to make sure it's hooked up properly. There should be a 2-pin wire connecting from the bottom board to the top board. And the cabinet speaker should plug into a 2-pin connector on the bottom board (through a hole in the top board).

Do you have any static or hissing sounds coming from the speaker, which should change when you turn up/down the volume? If not, your amp may be bad, or the wiring/speaker/etc. may be bad or have a connection issue. You mentioned adjusting both pots - I assume you mean the one on the bottom PCB (not always installed, but if it is, it's accessible through the hole in the top board) and the cabinet one?

Do you have an audio probe? The SOR schematics are pretty good, so with an audio probe it's easy to check if the boards generating any audio, and where it goes away (e.g. bad amplifier, broken resistor, etc).

I get zero static or noise. I checked the two pin connector from Board to board, but I will verify the connections again today.

Yes, my board has the pot accessible through a hole in the top board, and the main cabinet pot by the coin door.

I don't have an audio probe unfortunately.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions!

Everything looks intact and wired running where they should. Speakers ohmed around 7-8ohms so I think that's eliminated.
