Anyone know what has happened to Super Auctions?
I noticed the other day that their auction calendar hasn't been updated since May.
I tried to call them but the phone line has been disconnected.
I know times are tough but man... I always thought I could count on them.

Oh man I can't wait to read the replies.

Last super auctions auction I went to had like 15 games. No sellers are gonna support them.

Just did a search on rec.games.pinball.
I guess they haven't been paying people that have brought in games to sell. (And these posts were from back in January.)
Oh well, they were fun to go to and there were some deals to be had. (i.e. $5 for a working Seeburg juke with records.) Plus the carnival atmosphere.
However, my favorite is how they would fake a $1000 bid and try to keep running with it even though no one was bidding. It was also an adventure to visit the Detroit Fair Grounds...

They went under, they stopped paying people that sold, and aparently in Texas there is a warrant for the head guys arrest.

The guys who worked for them, Capt. Mullet, and the other guy broke off into their own thing.

Same old SA type auctions no different.

They came to West Bend Wisconsin, once. Don't think they will be back.

I know others are still doing them, but SA is done, and buried.

they were hurting and assumed dead last year they popped back up for another auction or two and fucked alot of people, theyre done for good.

The new guys Shawn and David with American Amusement Auctions are really nice guys and super cool. Their first auction they were having computer issues and bought those waiting in line pizza.

I got some smoking deals from a few Super Auctions auctions.

Sometimes they had too many games for the number of bidders and stuff sold WAY cheap. I'm talking $5 games or 3 or 4 for a $20 bid. Crazy.

I'd never bring my crap to an auction after they sold stuff that cheap.

They'd even say (when that happened):
"better grab this- we won't be back here- not at these prices..."

Rob never had much time to chat with a bottom feeder like me, but lots of those guys were pretty friendly.

Yea but I heard it was Papa John's I wouldn't call that cool at all. That is just mean ;)

Just like with SA though, it is the big sellers that are really running the game there and calling the shots. I'm always super on guard because I've seen so many shenanigans in the past. Things that auctioneers can lose their license over!

Don't get me wrong, I'd actually like to see them succeed. I just would like to see the practices clean up. The last AAA in Mesquite seemed a lot more legitimate than the SA practices, but there were some questionable things I saw though.

i like american amusement auctions a lot but there is one seller in particular that really runs the show when it comes to his machines. either way i have scored some great stuff from the mesquite auctions and i hope they continue forever!
