Super auctions Oct. 9th St. Louis roll call

Yep, my daughter was the one with the matching shirt. I asked deadmeat to make a youth size when he ran the pac shirts and it turned out great. My kids love maching me on shirts.

There was a problem, and i was quite pissed about it. I bought the Nascar sitdown. I bought it for 2 reasons. 1st. It was missing the monitor and boards. But i happen to have both of those items tested working on my bench. So it was a great candidate for that. But actually what i liked most about it was the it had the stickers to label all the cars for when you link the machines. Each machine has a number on the left and right side thats says the car number for that unit. And also, there is a piece of plexi on the back that has the car number. We have a bunch of nascars linked and have never had all the numbers. So getting the numbers was actually more exciting than getting the project game. And somone stole the numbers out of the machine.

Ive had several machines that have had items stolen out of them while they were at the auction. When you buy a bunch of games, you cant keep an eye on all of them, exspecially when you are in another row bidding. Ive had working galaga boards stolen. and someone took the boards out og a club kart once as well. I even had a complete game stolen from me at the STL auction. When you have employees working that are drunk before the auction starts, its wasy to figure out how this stuff can happen.

Wow. When they were selling the Megatouch's Some guy came up to one of the auction guys I think BJ and said somebody paid for a game he won and took it out of the building. Also Bj and mullet guy must have got mad at each other, I heard them arguing then Bj took off and i seen him later standing behind the row of machines with just his hand up for like five minutes flipping mullet guy the bird. Anybody else see that?

Glen, I changed into my muscle shirt when I loaded up since it was 85 degrees outside. I thought you would at least compare guns at that time :D.

BTW, BJ was telling me that he might be looking for another job soon. He thinks Superauctions might let people go or shut down if today was any indication of lost business. He was also ticked that he does tech repairs on lots of the games and gets no compensation. BJ was always pretty cool to me, it would be weird not seeing him at those auctions.

Where was the short old fart who always stands on the chair bidding his own stuff up?

If its who im thinking he was in IN :p pretty fun auction, IMO things went too high, not 100% sure but I think alot of op nosells, and it took 7+ hours..

I was out driving around with my dad and saw someone with games around 4pm down by Barnhart on 55 and thought oh cool arcade games! Then I thought oh shit they're just leaving that damn auction, lol. Troy, I know people who have had games purposely sabotaged up there so they wouldn't work, then people could buy them cheap and fix the stuff they disconnected to make them not work. I've been saying for years that the smaller and smaller the auctions get, I wonder if this will be the last time. They didn't have the Green Coin guy or the short dude mentioned who stands on the chair and bids all his stuff up. I don't recall them being at the last one though either. I always wondered how it was worth their time to buy back all their crap and drag it around to different auctions.

Slim pickings to say the least. Although a good turnout of jukes, darts, MT's and redemption, just not much for vids and pins. Some bargains nonetheless. a working Ms. Pac for $125, a decent Super Pac for not much more, and a hyper Neo Geo driver in nice shape under $200, I should have picked that one up. Oh well. Not very often you see a Site 4 these days, let alone dedicated. This one had 2 of them, one fully working and in nice shape, and still under $300. If we didnt already have HOTD I'd have taken that home for sure.

Well just like last time, I didnt buy anything at the auction, but didnt come home empty handed either.

Nice to meet Glen, Bob and Matt (gordonfan, caldwert & radiac), and hang out with Jeremy and Todd. I think I saw Mongo there but didnt get a chance to say hi. Who I didnt see there was dead row Dave, anyone else notice that?

Someone asked about the Arachnid darts... There were 2 english mark darts (old school, no cricket), both went for $62.50. One seemed to work and one didnt, but the bidder took both. I bid $50 on the working one, maybe I should have gone $75, oh well. There was also a Galaxy there and a couple top guns (I think thats what you call them?), but I didnt catch what they went for, I think the Galaxy might have fetched $150, not sure though. Most of them seemed to have issues.

Superauctions has definitely gotten progressively worse, and Ive been hearing alot about their shady business practices lately. Could this be the end? I dint notice it as much at Grandview. I noticed the one guy flipping the bird but didnt know what that was about.

We should definitely consider the occasional midwest roundup, especially if the auctions keep getting worse.

Dave had to pull extra hours at work. Not sure how much he could buy anyways lol he had a lot of stuff from the last auction

Yeah, I talked to him at that one, he acually rented a big U-Haul truck and had his trailer as well. I left that one pretty early but I'm betting he cleaned them out with all the dead games they had.

That was the first auction I've been to in over a year and was the worst one I've seen in 10 years. Taking an hour to get through the first row of such a small auction was crazy. There were phantom bids on EVERY game in that row! And how many times do we have to listen to SA threaten not to come back anymore?

I noticed a couple of the regular Ops missing today. I don't know if it has anything to do with the economy or SA's lack of respect for it's customer base. I still haven't bought anything from them after the crap they pulled on me 3 years ago.

On the positive side, That $5 STUN runner my buddy bought actually plays blind. The HOT on the monitor was bad so it's just a matter of putting another monitor in it.

I bet they pull that crap in every city though. Still I agree though, total lack of respect. Nevermind the rough economy and lack of quality to bid on, were just cheap bastards. Im curious, whats your horrow story from 3 years ago?

Brogner and I went down to Greenville South Carolina for an Superauctions absolute auction, and as we were loading his game into the truck, James from superauction look down into one of Brogner's centipede cabinet and said that board doesnt belong in there I know because I helped put boards into the cabinets and just took it out and kept it. Also it was raining and we were trying to get loaded and they kept saying come on get this loaded we want to go home. So we got all of our cabinet outside in the rain on to the dock while they set in there, talking and laughing, which they were still doing as we loaded the last game that we could fit into the truck and drove away. Very rude people working that auction, with exception of one or two people. For an absolute auction everything must go they had a roped off section of pinball machine and a few boxes of boards, etc that was not for sale.

hehe I was loading some VERY heavy vending machine by myself at a SA. 3 of them sitting around and 1 says.."boy those look heavy"..they were...me and my money have not been back :)
You can't really get mad at them for not helping you load.

I disagree, theres a reason why were paying 15% premiums. If its during the auction then yeah, you cant get upset about it. But once the auctions over, they have one guy ringing up buyers, theres no reason why the rest of the crew cant help.

With that said, Ive always had help loading games, but thats just my expierience.

My bad I didn't think they were responsible for loading or they had some disclaimer saying they wouldn't load stuff. I may be thinking of another auction that I've been to.

I've talked to a few of the auction guys and this is what they had to say about loading. They will help to load as long as they get tipped ahead of time, or know that you have tipped them in the past. Whether you agree with that philosophy, that's for you to decide. I have heard them complain about a few individuals after loading 5 games for someone, and not getting a tip or thank you or anything.

I've never been asked for a tip, and never thought I was supposed to. The premium should cover that. If they want tips, they can go work for Domino's or Red Lobster. I've only bought 1 or 2 games at a time though, and their "assistance" is usually a mere forklift load. Maybe the circumstances are different if they are acually physically helping you load multiple purchases.

I recently had Lowes send a new fridge and stove to my house, on labor day no less. Delivery was free and they put both appliances upstairs in the kitchen where they go. Was I supposed to tip them?

BJ has always gone out of his way to help us out whenever we asked. We've also always tipped him out of appreciation. SA used to say at the beginning of the auction that they would help load the bigger stuff that needed the forklift.

Just a side note on the Greenville auction. I bought 7 centipede cabs that all had the boards missing in them except for 2 of them. The one he pulled out looked like a Galaxian board. He basically accused me of stealing the board. Funny thing is they had a couple of boxes of boards they wouldn't sell or let anyone get near after the auction started. The boxes had the boards that were missing from a lot of the cabs. One of the boxes that they did sell had 5 of the Centipede boards. My buddy bought that one not knowing they were in there.

I think they say at the start of the auction "As is where is" or something close to that. Which would lead me to believe that I have to take care of removing whatever I bought myself. I would have no problem tipping if I needed the help. Welove80's brings up a good point what is the purpose of the buyers premium?
