Looked at their website and they have Indianapolis listed for an auction on Sept 11 at the fairgrounds. Checked the fairgrounds website and they have listed a game auction on Sept 11. Will this be another Super Auction that gets Post-Phoned at the last minute or does anyone know for sure that this will happen? I miss the US Amusements auctions that came her 2-3 times a year, hopefully it will happen.

If both the SuperAuction site and the Fairgrounds site say there will be an arcade auction on the 11th what makes you think there won't be?? What are you trying to say?

Indianapolis SUper Auction

Super Auctions has listed auctions in Cincinnati, OH and also Columbus, OH before and about a week before the auction they post phone it. I asked once in St. Louis and they claim that not enough interest but they have said that they would try Indianapolis sometime. Just wondering if anybody had heard inside scoop or will it be another post phone.. that's all
...

Thanks

I went. There were some classics. Things went pretty cheap since there was only 10 of us bidding. I saw 5 or 6 KLOVers there I recognised. Between us, I would say that the KLOV crowd took home 70 or 80 items. John and Troy buying the most. Here are some pics I took on the preview night.

That's my Mushroom World pinball! It came with another playfield too, so if someone needs one, let me know. I also took home a:

Rush the Rock (now I have 3, but this one has the proper side art)
Hang-On
Arkanoid (for the girlfriend)
Frogger (for the girlfriend)
Centipede (yup, she's trying to have as many games as I have)
Space Gun (it was bound for the arcade museum, but "Space" constraints prevented it from happening--what a fun game)

Thanks to Aaron, Chris, and the guys from the arcade museum in McLean, IL for helping me load my games. No pictures since my garage is really full at the moment.

I'm glad you were able to take pictures. The last few SA's I attended, they had a strict "no pictures" policy, to the point of yelling at people that had cameras and threatening to kick that bidder out of the auction.

Nice Discs of Tron!

Kyle

man i was soooooo gonna go...great to see i missed a KI2 for $350..the one ive been tempted to buy around here is 900.. *cry* :(:(:(

whats the website of the guy who go's to the auctions and writes down all the prices?

I'm a little confused here. Why isn't there an "overly dramatic" story in here about how all of the KLOVers in attendance had agreed that they wouldn't bid over a certain price on the discs of tron game and then someone ended up feeling screwed in the whole deal. Whenever one of those games comes up on here, people seem to lose their mind, and yet there is NO MENTION of who bought it or how much it went for...

the game was bought for 450.00 plus fees by John Yates. There you go, you now know who bought it. Does it make you feel better?

As for bidding against each other. Sometimes you have to, You try to work with each other as much as you can. But you cant always do that. I know that i stayed away from a few machines that John wanted, and he stayed away from a few that i wanted. But there were a few that we both wanted and we but heads then. Sometimes its business. Sometimes its pleasure.

Ive been known to bid someone up on a game just to make sure that they dont get the game or that they paid way to much.

Also, sometimes, working with each other can bite you in the ass. For example. Say that there is a hydro thunder going real cheap, and someone you know is bidding on it. So to be nice, you stay out of it becaues its a keeper for them and a flipper for you. But then the person hesitates at a low price and stalls, then the auctioneer says sold. Had i known that the klover was going to bow out when he did, i would have gladly bid, or another klover would have as he was waiting to get in on it as well. (yes this is aimed at you Chris)

I wasn't looking to offend anyone regarding this game. I am just so used to seeing people go ape over DOT, that i found it VERY strange that nobody seemed to mention what it sold for...

no offense taken, i guess it does look that way now that i reread it. Also, no-one has mentioned either that the game was a cut up edot where the back half was chopped off.

I saw that coming on the Hydro Thunder too late. I would have gone a little more on it also if I knew how it was going to play out in the end.
I asked John how bad he wanted the DOT and he said real bad so I did not bid on it. He had that, I will out bid you look in his eye. No need to run up the price. The reason no one fought over the DOT is because all of us either have one or have had one so it was just another cut EDOT to us. Nothing to get real excited about. I checked it before the auction started. The coin door was locked so I had to drop a quarter in. I was surprised that it was 100% working including the sounds and light sequencers. After John gets it back and opens the coin box, his price will drop to 449.75 plus fees.
