super auction compton

With it being in Compton, you may be the only one :) Myself, I have np hanging around Compton (even at night).

Hope you get some good finds,
Kevin

I'll be there this morning, but since my space is beyond limited at this point I won't be bidding on anything unless I really find a super treasure (unlikely) and thus I'll (likely) head back to Pasadena around 10:30.

its a bit close to x mas and everybody is busy.(except me)hopefully some goodies.shit i may be the only bidder.this could get ugly.maybe i could outbid myself;)

I'll be easy to spot at the auction. I'll be the one with a two-year-old in tow, and singing to myself NWA's 1990 classic "Straight Outta Compton"...

Just got back. Most of it was crap. Low turn out people and games. Prices super cheap though. The only game remotly worthy was a working Armor Attack.

i hung out at the auction for a few ours. good seeing alot of familiar faces. alot of craptastic conversion games, a few classics, lots of drivers, handful of pins.....

a few games offhand i saw sell for...

nice sega ded choplifter - a klover got a great deal on this one! congrats man.
working shinobi - $10!
strider w/ decent sideart $75
cyberball 2 player version (nice topper on it) - $220
beat up 720 - $420 or 440 ?? crazy man.
armor attack $250 or 260
dkjr - $400 or so
torn up robo - $75 (i think)

I went even though I'm getting over a cold and feel like shit. Good seeing everyone, though! There was a whole row of Sega Astro City cabs...I was hoping to maybe snag one or two of those, but the auctioneer was sooo sloooow and I just didn't have the energy to hang out any longer.

Did anyone stay long enough to see what those Astro's went for? ...or the pinball prices?

Some video of today's Compton, CA arcade auction. Pardon the format I am using it somewhere else :)

I picked up a nice, dedicated Choplifter for $65. But now that I got it home, not working anymore. So trying to figure it out now.

Great vid...can't believe how fast you got that up! The Choplifter wasn't working when it was auctioned...but hey - $65, ya can't go wrong...you'll figure it out.

I was there for the preview but left before the auction started. Overall, it was better selection than some of the other recent auctions. Most of the games were not powered on most of the time - bad move on the part SuperAuctions. I thought the days of bringing your own power cord were long gone, especially since a lot of the back areas were blocked off.

Classics I recall off the top of my head:

Ms pac - working
Joust - dead monitor
Bump n Jump - working 100%. I got the high score.
Robotron - looked like power supply failure 5v.
Defender - two of them, both dead
720 - looked like it worked, monitor was a little dim.
Armor attack - working but overlay was missing
Rolling Thunder
Track & Field - working but not orig control panel
Pac Junior - conversion Ms Pac - needed monitor repair
DK Jr - needed a cap kit
A couple other DK jr cabs converted to other games
Tetris - 2 or 3 of these
Arch Rivals
Tron converted to Street Fighter

Others:

House of dead '50 working but heavy burn-in.
House of dead 2 '50 working with moderate burn in.
House of dead 2 - regular upright
Jurassic Park upright - working except the guns would not fire.
F Zero AX Twin. This was working 100% and as far as I was concerned, the best game at
the auction.
Star Wars deluxe working
Sit down drivers - several of these and most looked to be in decent condtion. I did not
see all of them turned on.
Sega Strike Fighter (dead power supply)
Jambo Safari
Guitar Hero III - this was played constantly and was very annoying to listen to.
Crisis Zone
Several other shooting games
Big Buck Hunter
Scud Racer (single unit -full motion)
Police 911 2 - japanese version. Was working 100%. Pretty cool game.
Steel Talons - didn't seem to be working.
Various fighting cabs in various stages of decay
megatouch units - maybe 15-20
A few lots of boards - mostly crap games
Skee ball machines
Kiddie rides
A DDR dancing game - working
Another guitar game - looked to be homemade.

Pins (that I recall):

Stern Sea Witch
King Tut - 1969
8 ball deluxe special edition
a widebody (can't recall the name).
TMNT (missing backglass at the very least)
Flash (beat to hell)

Overall, not a bad auction.

Seen worse.

Seen better.

choplifter is a pcb that very picky about its voltages. .1v off might be too much..

some nice toys there. silent scope would have been cool. 720, robotron and joust.. Nice row of candy cabinets.. dedicated samurai showdown is very rare..

Wanted to go but started new job monday and didn't want to tell them no when they asked if I could work overtime on saturday. But I'm finding it more and more difficult waiting around all day just to bid on a broken defender. I probably should have stopped by after work at 4pm driving home to Pedro on the 110.

FYI-Pedro is a place not a person.
