cant believe i found one of these by chance, and it works..
swapped a space invaders upright machine for it.
Asteroids deluxe caberet........
Board has a few missing sounds but machine operates.

That's real nice.
Fair trade if you ask me.

SI is a kick-ass looking machine with not so fun gameplay.

I fixed mine but it was more of a hack job than anything. It didn't have any error messages though.

I used KLOV extensively and I'll bet you someone will chime in on the problem or offer to fix the board for ya.

I also found this link later on:

Fairly common for the large caps on the board to get knocked off entirely, or just one leg of them, taking out that portion of the sounds. Look at those first and make sure they're all present, also see if one leg of them is broken loose and reattach if so.

As for fixing deflection boards, step 1 is to reflow every header pin connection on the back of them, those have cracks present 99.99% of the time on at least 1 pin. If a reflow doesn't fix them, then you can go deeper troubleshooting, just don't waste your time with any other repairs until those pins are reflowed.

Fortunately, a CPO repro is available.

I sure miss my Asteroids Deluxe cabaret.

I ripped the pcb board out, sent it to one guy, then ripped the deflection board
out (even though it works) and sent that to another guy to get overhauled.
