spotted this pretty cheap on CL last night ($50) and sent a text right away. the ad was only a hour or so old and it was out in the boonies (60+ miles one way for me,) so i had some hope it was still around. i've been looking for one of these for a couple of years since i run most of my games on tokens.

the guy i picked it up from this morning is slowly divesting himself of his pin collection (had 50+ at one point, down to about 20 and going for a half-dozen.) he bought this for his gameroom then never put it up so it's been sitting collecting dust for quite some time.

it's surprisingly heavy as the marquees (double-sided!) are glass. i had to clean one side of old, old packing tape though with some Goo Gone and a lot of elbow grease it turned out great. i'm pretty sure from on-line pictures it was meant to mount onto a post, probably over a Rowe change machine. i flipped the marquees over temporarily so i could set it on top of my DK until i have a place to mount it. i may stick it on a tall pole on a heavy base, then mount my small changer to the pole.

just in case anyone is wondering, inside is a single 24" 20 watt fluorescent. and it even worked at pickup AND when i got it home. w00t!

Todd, don't be an ass. Many of us live out in the boonies...

I saw the sign and thought about calling Jim but I never intend to run my games off of tokens so I figured someone else would enjoy it more.

you're not nearly as much in the boonies at Jim.

wish i'd seen his collection in its prime; what he has left is still pretty impressive.

Great find Todd. I'd love to find one of those too since I use tokens in my gameroom also with a big brown. I've been planning to just make one on the assumption that it'll be a long wait trying to find an original. Any chance you'd be willing to scan it?

sorry about the delayed reply... yeah, the glass is in great shape and i was thinking of scanning it so someone could repro these. of course, it's silk screened, probably in multiple layers so the unlit portion is black. might be hard to get a good print with an inkjet onto translite but it may be worth a try.

always a moment of truth after you move something and you plug it back in to see if it still works. Glad you found a good sign.

do you just adjust your quarter mechs to take tokens or do you buy new mechs for all of your games?

Might be easier to make a replica by cutting vinyl and attaching that to the inside of plexi or glass, then backing with a really thin bit of plastic as a light diffuser. The only bit that would be hard-ish to place is the center of the 'o' - nothing else has unsupported centers.

A scan would be cool, though I suspect if you took a straight-on picture with a tape measure in the picture, even I could do passable vectors - it's not that complicated a set of shapes, so the error from being photographed wouldn't be a big deal.

i mostly bought .900 mechs, either size specific or already adjusted. i have a few adjustable ones that i made the changes to but not many. and i figured out how to adjust the original roll-down mechs in my DK for .900's (at some point i'll post a tutorial since i couldn't find one on KLOV.)

this winter when i've got some downtime i'll do a decent scan and anyone who wants to vector it can have at it... it'd be cool to have someone like Rich repro these as a silk screen on thick plexi or glass in the original size.
