Well tonight around 6pm I took a look at craigslist and found someone selling a Pac-Man Plus for $20.00... There was no pic, however I figured for $20.00 I really can't go wrong..

I went over and found a very nice PacMan cabinet.. It even has the orange t-molding.. Glass is perfect, inside looks great, and the cabinet has no dings.....

When I power it up, I here a hum, and the neck of the monitor glows, however no image shows up.. I have not had a chance to try and fix it yet...

Here are some pics...

Great find man! Does it play blind? Also make sure no connections are loose.

Congrats on the score! You certainly got more than your moneys worth on that deal. :)

A Pacman cab for $20. I would have definitly thought it had water damage and moved on.
You got the deal of the century......

Did that guy store that thing in his living, look how clean that thing is on the inside. The yoke on the monitor is shining. WTF!!!
You better goto church next sunday....

Check the fuses, check the power chord(you would be surprised), make sure all connectors are properly seated.

If you need a new board, PM Riptor, he had some working Pacman boards for sale.

Not bad, needs a few things. A few bucks and you got a decent game.

I got a super pac man a few months ago for $50. The power cord was loose. I like the Super pac cabinet but the game is so-so.

Wow!

Some one posted the and I am glad a fellow KLOVer got it!

Good story and congrats on the nice find, keep us updated on its progress.

Nice score! I'd go to Radio Shack and grab two sets of fuse holders, you'll need the set of 4 to replace the fuses nearest the transformer and a set of 2 (they snap off) to replace the other two.

Midway games have crappy fuse holders so you may as well replace them now because even if the game works eventually, you'll probably end up with a hum bar in the monitor from those original holders.

Also check the fuse ratings (manual or paper tags) not what's already in there and pick those up at Rat Shack too.

Nice score and I like your monitor glass (hint, hint :)). Hope you get it going soon!

Incredible! Boy, that IS a clean cab on the inside... Where are the rat droppings and big ol' fatty dust bunnies?

I am going to have a chance tonight to clean it out, replace the fuse holders and try and get this thing working..

I plugged it in this morning and when I unplugged it I can hear the monitor discharge noise (Quick static) so I think the monitor is working...

My Ms. Pac board should be back sometime this week from Riptor so I can check to see if the board is ok....

Thanks,

Chris

It Lives!!!!!!

Ok,

Today I received my Ms. Pac board back from Riptor after having the 4 in 1 mod installed (Works great by the way).

I took the Pac Plus board out of and tried putting in my Ms. Pac which I know works..

Nothing.....

I put the 4 in 1 board into the Pac Plus cab and it fired right up.. the monitor looks pretty good (A slight bit of bending at the top, really minor)...Controls, and buttons work great..

Now I just need to figure out what is wrong with the Pac Plus board.... Anyone out here know any good trouble shooting tips?

Chris

Is that picture of the Pac Plus board? If so, where is the daughter card with the Z80? Does it have the Z80 on the board with the ROM mod?

Yep, that is the Pac Plus board... There was no daughter card with it.. Maybe that is the problem....

How do I tell if there is a Z80 on the MOD?

Thanks,

Chris

If it has the mod to not need the daughter board, the Z80 would be in its socket under the daughterboard near to the test edge connector at the bottom of the picture. I suspect you will find an empty socket. Which means no processor, aka nothing when you turn it on....

It is easy to see where the processor daughterboard plugs in with this Ms. Pac-man board. The Pac-plus would normally look similar with a black daughter card that you cannot see the chips on. The mod version replaces ROMs on the main board and puts the Z80 where that same daughterboard ribbon cable plus into the main board.

There is a chip installed, however after looking at your pics, the board was installed backwards.. I turned it around and powered it back up.. The screen comes alive, however it is pretty much all white... I am guessing having this board in upside down may have fried something...
