I think I've stumbled across a good deal on some 1N4007 diodes.

Are these beefy enough to be used for replacing bridges on monitors and power supplies, etc?

Average If : 1.0A
Average Ir : 5.0A

Most stuff has "beefier" diodes than the 1N4007....although, the 1N4007 is used in a lot of places. What kinda deal are you talking about? You can get them from most suppliers for $3.00 or under per 100. I think I pay 1.5 cent per piece in lots of 100.

That's pretty much the deal. 100 for a little under $3 shipped.

What would to recommend for a general purpose, "this will work in 90% of common stuff", diode?

EDIT: Not looking for anything for pinball machines, I know they use some big boys in there... more interested in monitors and power supplies.

You know.....the only diode I buy in "major" bulk is the 1N4007.....I go through a lot of those (though, now that I think about it....I have no idea how I use so many of those). Most stuff I work on has actual bridge rectifiers....as opposed to a diode bridge. I keep a shitload of different zeners around, a good stock of 1N4148, some 1N54XX series, and some 6A2's.....anything else, I order as I need. I don't think there is a good "one-size-fits-all".
