A few people have asked me to take "scans" or high def photos of the Dragons Lair Anniversary artwork I have coming. I know the art is pretty rare, so I am assuming that is why so many people have requested pics. It would be cool if someone could get permission to make a "run" of the art..

Anyway..I have never taken pics of side art and stuff for this reason and was wondering if you guys can make suggestions on how to get the best pics possible? Should I put them down on a specific backdrop? My camera is a 10MP, I guess that is good enough, right?

Sorry..just want to make sure I do this right so people can have a "clean" pic for repo reason's (someday?)

Thanks for any suggestions!

The truth is a scan is always gonna be a far better option than a pic. If a pic is the only option I would say you should definitely use a tripod and try and shoot the art straight on. Try and get as close up a pic as possible while still getting the entire art in frame. Of course make sure the pic is well lit and the flash if any does not wash out the image. Off hand I don't know a local place that does it but I do do know there are places you can take large items to be scanned whole. It will cost to have this done but it's easier then doing multiple scans and stitching them together. If others really want this art scanned, maybe they will be willing to chip in to cover the cost to have it scanned at a place like this.
