suggestions for PP accents on current Monaco GP pls

As many of you may (or may not) know, I have gutted my Monaco GP cockpit of its original internals, and have set it up to play Pole Position and other games using the M-word..

Since my GP cockpit has nice orig sideart, but is now set up to play PP, what art or bezel should i use in the game? I thought I might try using a PP bezel in there if I could get one cheap, but just leave the Monaco GP art on the outside. I am also missing the look of the original GP lighting inside the cab- should I try some LEDs or some other race-themed lighting 2 spice it up? How abt cutting a PP marquee and putting it inside somehow as an accent? I will post some 'current state' pics later today.

A little idea just hit me... in the original bezel of Monaco GP, the left side of the bezel shows the top 5 high scores, and they are displayed in a vertical arrangement alongside the screen.

I'm wondering if it would look good, or cheesy, to fill that void of the new bezel or whatever I end up putting in there, with a PP marquee on a 90 degree counter-clockwise rotation? I could even light it up using either a fluorescent, or a black light, or LED's, or something. Just a little brainstorm to see what everyone thinks.

Hmmmm.... well you took an original classic and mamed it. What would you expect after that, a pat on the back from Dave and Van.

Without making my response an epic in length, I will water it down to these basic points:

1. I tried really hard to save the original Monaco GP game in its original form. I reached out to KLOVers, as well as members on other sites, for help. I even had a local KLOVer come look at the game with me in person, to help make sense of its issues- they too could not understand what the problem was with the game.
2. I cleaned the original boards, bought replacement chips, and installed them, only to make the game have more problems.
3. I bought the game initially because I wanted a cockpit game in my lineup. The price was right, and the location was right. I'd never played Monaco GP as a kid, but Pole Position I played quite a bit BITD.
4. I wanted a game that actually lit up and worked, that my kids could enjoy PLAYING. Prior to the MAME conversion, the best they could do in the cockpit was 'pretend' to be driving. My daughter also decided one night to sit in it while eating her spaghetti dinner. For me that was like hopping up on the altar at church and browsing through your best pr0n mag…

Long story short, I'm in this hobby for the comraderie, to share tips and ideas, and most of all, to have fun. This game was frustrating the sh!t out of me, which in by book is not anywhere in the definition of fun. I gave her my best, and she didn't want to come back to life. Even paramedics don't have a perfect scorecard.

So, if everyone wants to look the other way because I MAME'd a dead (or near-dead) game, then there's not much more I can do about that. I too normally turn my nose up at 60-in-1 conversions and the like, but with this one I gave it everything I had and it did not want to live on as Monaco GP. The good news is, I (currently) still have all of the parts needed to switch her back should the day ever come. But to be honest, I doubt it will.
